Thumbs up I've just been Pangoed!

Hi guys , a box of goodies arrived at my door yesterday. I've made my first step and bought my DAC and software.

    Inside said box was:
    -LD2000intro
    -LD2000 intro to pro upgrade
    -QM2000.net
-IMU SMS to laser and gsm wireless modem.

Much thanks to Marc at CT Lasers for a great deal and for all the advice and support.
I've been fretting and pacing back and forth worrying over the viability of doing laser show in the strict jurisdiction of Western Australia I live in, but Marc helped me get some perspective on a few issued I had.
    Thanks mate

Thanks to all the team at Pangolin. First for offering such a generous holiday upgrade discount and secondly for such a well crafted product. The build quality of the hardware is first class and you can tell that the people who designed and built it
take pride in their work. I haven't installed the software yet but I've been watching the tutorials and I'm really excited. Great tutorials buy the way, this style of presentation really explains thing well.

Also thanks to all the dispatchers, drivers and logistics people who helped deliver my package quickly at this busy time of year with terrible weather conditions to deal with in the North East US.

This laser stuff is fun! and I don't even have a laser yet!

    Congratulations...

Although, you forgot to mention LivePRO , if you've got IMU then you also have LivePRO as one cannot work without the other.

You'll love the setup, it will probably take you a while to get your head around it, but you're pretty much guaranteed to enjoy it.

IMU is a great piece of software, it's worth spending a bit of time designing your own screens (don't forget the live video feeds etc)

    Cheers

Man, you made the right decision.

Taking the leap for the Pro LD-2000 package is expensive but extremely wise. You have to have good tools to make good shows and you just bought the Swiss army knife. How about your projector? Are you going to build or buy?

    Hi Jem
Yeah Live Pro looks really exciting and can't wait to try out the IMU. There are so many possibilities that they create.

Much learning, scheming and dreaming ahead of me

So, you'll be wanting a nice large LCD touchscreen to use with LivePRO, Oh, and don't forget the MIDI controller

Ah, almost forgot, you'll be needing a nice powerful video projector for the IMU for the times when you don't want to use it with a laser... Don't forget the large 'fastfold' portable projection screen as well

Seriously though, you've just bought what is generally accepted by many as the very best Software/hardware that is currently available. Have fun with it and ignore our teasing

    Hi 300EVIL,
Thanks for the encouragement. I was planing on getting basic first and upgrading later when I've grown into it but the holiday upgrade deal was just too good to pass up. I'm glad I reached that bit further, although I do feel kind of like an over ambitious snake that has just swallowed an elephant..... "Don't touch me, I've got a tummy ache!".........."Mmmmm elephant".

Am I going to build my projector? Definitely. It's probable going to be the thing I'll enjoy the most.
There is a fairly good chance I will get carried away making it fancy

For sure, I bought a Novation 25SL MkII midi controller to use with Logic Pro when I'm away from home. I use a MacBook Pro and I'm going to use my Pangolin gear with that using XP with bootcamp for the time being, but when I'm ready to do shows I think I might have a look at the Dell all in one PC's. They are kind of like an iMac with a 20"+ touchscreen built in. They are very sturdy and are reasonably priced to.

Stop encouraging me, I've got a serious gear habit already

Oh why didn't I listen, everyone said "Just say no to lasers"

Don't feel to bad though, I've been into synthesisers and other music making gear for a while. Can't see myself getting that monkey off my back any time soon.

Oh dear, I'm on the hard stuff now. I should have just stuck with RC model cars, that's practically legal in most states.

    "Your my pusher"

    Gee thanks

    Have fun

    Hi Kit-

Yeah, your officially hooked on "our stuff" now!! LOL. you might as well just leave your wallet out and get used to slight heart palpitations when your monthly credit card statements come in!!

I'm glad all of your stuff arrived safe and sound. Now you'll be spending the next 2 weeks with no sleep learning all your new toys!!

What do you have in mind for a projector? RGB? approx power?

Looking forward to seeing your progress! Welcome aboard the "i'll never have extra money again" Laser profession!!
