Default Need advice on sourcing a v. low cost scanning head - tiny

I need to find a source for a very low cost galvanometer / laser scanning head for a consumer commodity application. Definitely not entertainment application - down and dirty needed.

EAU 25,000 piece first year, 50k second year.

The part should be dimensionally small.
Application is to create very simple text and low resolution graphics using a small solid state green light laser as the source. Consumer commodity application – not scientific. Not a bar code scanner. Low accuracy and repeatability required. I need the smallest, simplest scanning head I can purchase.

Control electronics and drivers can be “by others”.

I need to scan in 2 axes.
Application would be to “draw” - for instance - a 300mm x 200mm rectangle in lines at a distance of 3 meters, move that image side to side within +/- 1.5m range left to right, then change the box lines to a simple drawn text – “OPEN” for instance.

Digital control will be handled separately.

I do not care about hysteresis or blanking the laser light to create clean edges etc.
My design brief is to deliver the lowest cost set of galvanometers for this commodity product, then to address the control side of the project elsewhere.

Green solid state diode, current drivers, lenses and digital interface can be quoted by others, but today I need a ballpark price for the galvanometers and mirrors only. In the future someone can look at quoting a finished assembly too.

I would prefer the galvs to be a single integrated unit for assembly into my equipment. We can look at laser and lens mounting after I find a manufacturer.

Clients ballpark for 50k volume is under $20.00. Again – this is not a scientific application, corners should be cut. The client wants this to just work, not be beautiful.

    many thanks,

    Jon Connell
