    Default Planning some satellite projectors

My 1W RGB projector is nearly done (last parts will arrive on monday).

Now I am planning two satellite projectors (damn addiction )

These will be micro projectors, and I would like to keep them Class 3B to keep them cheap(ish) and safe for small rooms.

I'm planning on using a 170mW 637 opnext diode, 150mW 532 (pointer core), and enough 445 to hit 499 mW total after all optics.

Now I have to choose some scanners, this will be beamshow-only-projectors - the following two sets is in consideration:

PT20K from Spacelas - ~120$ shipped (I have the PT30Ks in my other projector, quality seems fine for the money)

These noname scanners from Laserwinkel (Cheap, small PSU, and have some kind of scanfail onboard)

What would you recommend? Should i go for the Spacelas scanners, or the nonames?

I kind of like the small PSU and scanfail feature of the nonames, but quality-wise, I don't know how they compare to the PT20s.

    /Thomas

    Hey Thomas,

the scanners that i sell on ebay actually do not have a scanfail on the driver.
they have a connector to connect a scanfail
this week i am receiving scanfails that are compatible with these scanners.
price extra for these scanfails is $50 dollar tough.

as of the differences from PT scanners and mine.
    performance seems the same.
never had problems with the nonames
had 2 scanners of PT with problems

i would preferr the nonames due to their smaller size.
if going for 30K's go for PT

if you have any questions about the scanners let me know

Dave hooked me up with a good deal on PT20s, so I have two sets on the way now.

    Thanks anyway

Just throwing more options out there, I found this supplier the other day. Some cheap scanners, quality unknown.

Those no name scanners are laserpic. In my experience laser pic make rubbish. Very poorly tuned scanners back when we used to deal with laserpic.

The PT scanners we have had very few problems ( like 1 in the hundreds we sold when we were selling them ) and the have always been very well tuned, but TBH, neither brand compare to DT or EMS or what not

    nonames are not laserpic's
laserpic has Scan speed: 20kpps@8 optic angle (Maximum 20kpps@12 optic angle)
nonames perform at 20kpps@20 optic angle and maximum of 35K @5 optic angle

I believe those are PT. I have ordered from Meierlight and the galvos I got were PT. 40KPPS. No problems so far and the more they seem to loosen up, the better they have gotten. They have "peaked" now that they are broken in. ILDA test pattern up to about 15 degrees @ 30K

Sorry my mistake, You are right, they are indeed not laserpic. Actually, they are CR laser scanners - well CR laser manufactures the scanners, and the drivers have been designed by Sonima if I am not mistaken.. We sold earlier versions of these scanners made by Cirrect, and they were always very hit and miss and tuning was always not great. Maybe things have changed.

it isnt CR neither the driver looks slightly different. i can't compare to sonima at the moment (their site is down) but i expect it arent these either. my supplier say they produce the galvo's and scanners theirself. also CR's dont have a connector for a safeboard.

the driver is probally based on a CR tec model but the tuning is compareable with PT/spacelas scanners.
