Yeah, I just noticed you're in Hove!
I think it's your name thats thrown me, thinking you were abroad or something.

I fear I may just end up depressed at not being able to buy anything though.

Out of interest, how much overspec (if anything) do your Kvant modules come? E.g. If I ordered 300mW, roughly how much might I expect to receive from new? You may answer by PM if you like

    Default KVANT VS Live lasersystems

    Well its simple

    the diodes 4pcs are identical.

The lenses are slighty better in the live lasersystem laser which result a little bit higher power and lover divrigence.

But the most important thing is, the KVANT will put out 4 separate stacked beams which will diverge into one beam after 30cm to 60cm or so, resulting in a 2,5x3,5mm beam

the Live lasersystem laser uses Wavplates and high quality PBS to combine the lasers resulting in a more perfect beam <2,6mmx2,6mm

Waveplates en high quality PBS are expensive so thats why its slightly higher priced...

So yes definitely better beam than Kvant...

And you are correct about want company's says on spec sheets, the Kvant got 0,8mrad on HALF angle but on full angle 1,6mrad (but somehow they forget to put that number on the specsheet)

the live lasersystems got 0,7mrad on full angle....

Well you get 300-315mW, BUT module will be photon-active for very looong time and will deliver expected power and stability for very loong time (simply because nominal load of those diodes inside is 150mW x2=300mW). So jumping up&down because you got for example 415mW which is supposed to be 300mW is fine, BUT time will show if it was right thing to do ..(I don't think so - if you run car at high revs for too long it will die).
No probs with cup of tea, coffee or even wine.

    Understand!
I didn't ment you when I mentioned spec. sheets
I guess that reason for HALF angle spec. is that most of the manufacturers do it that way and after while you get fed up with same question.
And just other day I had this conversation with someone...whether does it make sense to develop super thin and tight beam of one colour when you can't match it with others (at reasonable price level whithin laser display industry). If your spec is true and I believe it is, getting 532 and some sort of blue to match your spec near enough is going to be quite expensive and therefore not very cost effective - at least for entertainement industry. Also thinner the beam is, more dangerous it gets, so you migt get more H&S issues with audience scanning. I think that balance between price-performance-reliability and customer service needs to be about right.
But overall I am happy about another proper manufacturer on our side of the planet

I think one of the best indications I've seen actually is this thread showing pretty much the red and green I'm looking at next to each other.

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...UK-RGB-modules

I've got to say it looks pretty good from that angle.

Maybe I get one 640 for the moment and compare the projectors back to back, and if I like it, I'll switch the 650 out for another 640....

So, who wants a >1W 650nm with under 20 hours use?
me me but i got only 400€ and i think its not enough. But my wife is killing me like i spend to much money for my hobby
if there is any chance to get it , tell me
    cya
