    Default Whos Got the brightest...

Whom is making the brightest white high power led with the least divergence. I know about Phlatlight, but I need something a little more available. Cree, Soul Semi, Whom ?? I need to get a lens right up to the package and bring the beam to a focus asap... Cree XP-G is at 125 degrees, I'd like less spread.

Check out Luxeon Emitters. I've used them before, they have quite a selection of LED's. Recently bought out by Phillips.

What about the other luminus LEDs? SST-50 looks nice at 1250 lm and considering you can get flashlights with it for $50 it can't be all that expensive.

I like the SSC P7 in terms of brightness, but the divergence is high and the emitter large, so probably not suitable for you.

9000 lumens in a 20 degree beam imaged ~5mm from the aperture.

This is using the Phlatlight LEDs.

Ok, looks like Seoul Semi and Osram are way behind, Rebel is just ahead with a 1.1 by 1.1 mm die @ 180 lumens/1A and Cree has a 1.4 x1.4 mm die at 180 lumens/1A. coming in third is the new Nichia NSC119, but like all Nichia, it takes knowing the company president personally to get them. (Was There, Did that, in the past)

Phlatlight nicely trounces every body else on emission angle, until you go to their white, which is 125' like everybody else.

Since I can't get the raw dies from Taiwan, Malaysia, or Oregon, and do not read or speak Chinese, that about sums it up? Correct?

What are you using it for? And are you looking for a single color LED or RGB LED's. I know for a fact that they make 60 watt RGB LED's. they are very small, but on the divergence side i am unsure.

The Q5 from Cree does 225lm, but I'm not sure if they ramped up the current on that one.

I had a Fenix P3D flashlight which did that on two CR cells, I've got the LD20 now which does 180lm with two AA batteries. Might be that they just use the same chip, but the P3D just carries a little more current and the LD20 does the standard 1 amp current through the LED.

Nice. How much of that would be left when you bounce it off a DMD and a lens triplet? I'll get the popcorn ready...
