By the way, have you tried cooling it? Get it nice and cold (stick it in the freezer, or leave it in a cold garage for a little while) and then turn it on and WATCH... It is amazing! The science behind this little baby is astonishing!

The dual-line IR output from the vanadate is produced using dual-line mirror coatings, which gives output at both of the primary IR vanadate lines. Similar in principle to getting an ArIon to lase on multiple lines simultaneously.

So it's like playing a chord on a musical instrument; wavelength harmonics exciting other nodes and generating a previously unavailable resonance?

    You bringing that to FLEM?

By the way... This works as follows:
The 808nm temperature controlled pump diode causes the ND:YVO4 crystal to lase at the two strongest lines: 1064 and 1342, this in turn is then pumped into a non-linear crystal for summation.

Frequency summation works the same as calculating parallel resistors, so 1/1342 + 1/1064 = 1/Answer

There is a nice patent about this that I can't find now, but it explains it nicely.

In order for them to cancel, they'd have to be the same frequency 180 deg out of phase. They're not. The wavelengths are 1064 and 1342nm.

Don't they actually have to be phase matched? Otherwise you wouldn't have mixing...
