I was wondering if anyone in the mid-atlantic usa area goes to the Timmonium Hamfest?
I believe it is comming up in latter april.
In addition to lasers I do explore amateur radio.
    N3IDS for those who know.
There is usually some laser stuff there.. mostly hene stuff...

I do intend on being there.
once i get the date i will post it.

Bengal... You need to bring my "car powered" 180mW unit there... just to mess with them!

Its basically like every dpss head i have here only i connect it to a pure sine wave DC/AC inverter through my cigarette outlet. Very neat toy.

This year I will know what to look for.
I got pretty much all I need for my other "hobby"
50 Watts on the "3 meter" band.

1 watt amps are easy, they are obsolete now, but there are similar modules ,
the ca2832 catv amp module will take 1mw in 1 watt out
it does run at 28v though
sony makes some similar, but these all run on 24 v

the minicircuits hela -10 ic is also a 1mw in 1 watt out , it does need a few external components. but it runs on 12 v
the amps draw approx 400 to 600 ma

these amps are very wideband, no tuning needed.

the ramsey tx is not the best to use. there is a Belkin fm tx (also known as a cd adaptor) it sells for about 35 bux around here at wal mart, it has a synth lcd disp, and stereo generation, in a very small package, if you use a era-3 ic you can get about 3- 6 mw, drive an amp i spoke of and you have a nice little tx.

The mini-circuits can be gotten from the website, if you say you want some samples, (and you have a multimega corporation to put in the position field)
you can get some for free. 1 or 2 quantity. as evaluation or sample units.
Made an error, the modules i said were sony are actually motorola.
i dont have a part number right now. but will post once i get it. its usually a mc something number
you could do a search for motorola catv amplifier
the modules are very simple to hook up , a cap on the input, a cap on the output, (.1uf should do) filter cap on the power, and hook up an antenna and signal source. and away you go.
