Default Placement of DT40W Scanner head

Hello everyone !! I have been in the process of modifing Projector#1 and one of my final tasks is to attach the DT40W Scanner head to my optical platform level.

My worry is that the VERTICAL projection geomerty may be such that the projection image may not clear the front edge of my optical platform. Moving the Scanner block and three (3) Dichro set forward...closer to the edge of the optical platform... would give much more clearance for the beam path.

I have room to do this movement....but...I would prefer not to unless necessary....My optical platform ALLREADY has several " Extra " holes in it.....from past "learning curves"

My RGB beam path offset is currently 10 cm back from the edge of the optical platform edge. The RGB beam path height is 36.9 mm elevated from the optical platform plane.

Yes...I could always rotate / adjust the vertical galvo unit .....and this may work....but would mean that the scanner heads would always " Project up "...This COULD be a pain in the ass ?? or maybe not ??

OK...then....Help me out here.....anybody who is currently swinging the beams with a DT-40W...what is the max. VERTICAL scan angle of the DT-40W's ??......If it is also 85 degree....I may be movin alot of optics around !!!! I want every single photon out the front end....Thanx

Default I really hate to answer my own thread !!

Well....possibly there are not many DT-40W's out there !! HeHe.. Terrawatt sez " Just bolt her down....and roll"....From what I have been able to figure out so far....is that the Vertical scan angle is equal to the Horizontal scan angle.....85 ~ 90 Degree.....don't forget.....This IS a modification.....as the original scan angle was around 45 Degree....so...cut me some slack here!!

So...to anyone planning an upgrade to DT 40W's....or planning a projector design using the DT-40W's....Plan to place the scanner head as FAR forward as possible.....and plan for a 90 Degree horizontal scan angle also....as Marc/CT sez...." Crazy wide"

See attached drwg.....this is what I currently have....I might or might not move the Dichro's and Scan head forward...to clear the optical platform edge.

Anyone with any comments on having a projector which would have a vertical projection path as shown in my cartoon ????

    Thanx,

i would assume that they have to be pretty much butted up against the output window,
my 6800's barely clear a 3" window, if i had to do it over, i would put my scanners butted up against the front plate window

Hi CD, 4" does seam like an awful long way back to mount the galvo block, that was always going to limit scan angle.

I would reccommend moving that forwards even if its a PITA.

    Default 29.783 km/s SINCE 7.27.2007

    Hi Ya Doc,

    Well now.... Since I started Projector #1....Insep date being 2.27.2007.....we have ALL traveled the Earth's orbital circumferencial path for 961 days...er...ah 83,030,400 seconds x 29.783 km/s = 2,472,894,403 ......
KILOMETERS....I guess I can go alittle more distance....and move the Dichro's around....although....even keeping them where they are...I would still project about 23 Degree below the beam plane....I am just getting impatient....NO SHIT.....guess I shouldn't have wasted time with the above silly calculations hahaha.

Thumbs up OK..We're " Dancin with the Dichro's"

OK.....I am moving the Dichro's and mounting the DT-40W Scanner....As far to the front of the optical platform as my design will allow....the new RGB beam path will be 50mm from the edge of the platform...
With this geometry....I will have to slightly rotate the Y galvo...so the 90 Degree vertical angle clears the platform edge !!!
A suggestion to you builders.....IMO....Place the Green bounce mirror first, then the Scanner head....both non-adjustable in the X/Y directions...then....mount the Red Dichro and then the Blue Dichro....but mount them so they ARE adjustable in the X/Y and adjust them as necessary for close to perfect near-field
alignment....well...that is what worked for me....Thanx....and good luck !!!
