    Default 4 Colours the way to go?

    Hi,

    I know recently Insanity's projector has been getting a lot of praise for its white produced by adding a dedicated yellow module to the established RGB line up.

    It seems that tv manufacturer's are starting to agree with this approach with Sharp now adopting RGBY.

    Apparently adding Yellow aslo ups the number of possible colours from 16.9 million to over a trillion.

    I think you will find its an extra blue, and not yellow

    indeed mark doesnt have a yellow module in his projector

    I don't think the extra yellow is necessary for lasers. If you look at a CIE chromaticity diagram you'll see that the red-green (532nm) lines passes close to the spectral locus in the yellow region. This means that green+red is a good representation of yellow and the gamut will not be significantly expanded by adding a yellow source.

    For display technologies not using lasers the light is not truly monochromatic and the red-green line will not pass very close to the spectral locus. It can then be beneficial to add a yellow source to expand the gamut.

    Adding additional blue sources can however expand the gamut significantly, but they should be modulated individually.

    445 and 473 from memory, plus he spent alot od time in livepro setting the balance right.

    Hi,

    Just to clarify, I have 473nm and 445nm combined and modulated on separate channels... And yes, playing with the advanced settings in LD2000's palette is well worth the effort... Using advanced you can tune each screen colour independantly.... By having the two blue lasers my palette did open up loads of colours previously unavailable to me, in fact I have a whole page of different blue's

    I'm building a 5 color 2W and all i have is a sound card DAC lol .
    Pangolin may be in my near future...

    qm or easylase dacs both support up to 6 seperate channels for laser modules
