    Default Small search problem...

    Cleanup on aisle four!!

    Hello Spec, sorry about that.

If I do a forum search I don't get results that ought to be found. I was looking for my old post about carbon-loaded varnish on TEC's to see how far I got with the power meter circuit I'm preparing for a full post soon. I didn't find it, and I knew I'd mentioned carbon in a recent post in the Kenometer thread so I searched for that using 'carbon' and my own name 'The_Doctor'. It didn't find that thread either, but a manual browse to it will show that the post is there to find. Google, using site: photonlexicon The_Doctor carbon finds all posts where I said 'carbon'.

It's definitely worth making the search work well because it would reduce the database size and subsequent noise if people trusted it and used it a lot.

Also, when I previewed this post, I saw that the string "site: photonlexicon..." could not be properly formatted without that space because it forced a smiley instead of the text string. There used to be a way to switch smileys off for a post, but I can't see one now.

The search function has never worked for me on this site. For me; using Google is the only option.
