Default PM's i received regarding Arctos Patent

ok so i posted the below two photos in the red project thread -

then i received this PM from Bob m

    so i replied with -

bouncing 4 laser beams off mirrors at 45 degrees isnt against any patent.

    i then get this reply

    so i replied with -

is the patent a european patent, does it cover the uk? is posting a photo of empty diode holders against any patent? is showing a photo of 4 beams bouncing off a mirror at 45degrees against any patent

and ive not had a reply.

it seems a kind of empty threat really.

now bob m joined especially to send me those pm's, he suggests "we" as in acrtos them selves but it could be someone from this forum being a nob ive no idea.

reason for this thread........ no reason just putting it out there really.

i am no lawyer, but i dont see how relfecting laser beams off of mirrors can be patented. Knife edging is a very widely used method with lasers. I really wouldnt worry about it andy. and to be quite honest, i find it extremely pathetic that a company like Arctos which is a multi-million dollar corporation decides to pick on a laser hobbyist for even possible patent infringement.

If this is an infringement than 95% of Laser manufacturers who use multiple red and multiple blue (especially 405) diodes are in possible violation. LOL, a little silly if you ask me.

It looks like nearly a week ago they stated they would be in contact "shortly". A week does not seem "shortly" to me. Maybe they thought about it a while and realized they were being ridiculous.
Patent stuff is so touchy though, no wonder lawyers make the big bucks dealing with it.
Is it infringing even if you aren't selling something but just make one for yourself?
If they do contact you again, I would ask them to cite a specific patent number. I can think of no reason why they would not be able to do that if they were legitimate.

    Bullshit.

As long as you are not commercially selling it you have nothing to worry.

they are just trying to scare you.

You bounced your beams at 90° with 45° mirrors?

You bastard, I hope you're ashamed of yourself, I bet you've used laser diodes in there aswell haven't you?

Just don't even think about trying to combine these "laser beams" together, mixing them with other colours and firing the resulting mixed beam all over the place with an X/Y galvanometer propelled mirror arrangement, whilst "modulating" said beam on and off to form some kind of arty "laser show".

I'm really sorry I have to do this...
but... I have to agree with mccarrot...

You can copy and build ANY patent for personal use...
The problems start when you sell that patented build for profit..
The profits or any gain financial or otherwise... legally belongs to the Patent holder...
