Here's the link to the thread were we discussed the group buy back in 2008. Some good information there, if you want to try to order one yourself. You'll probably have to pay more for it, but they do stock it on the shelf.

And as several have already posted, it's tricky to align it for optimal results. But it does work.

I received the dichro but don't have a lot of time to do the test.

Have you some information about the angle to combine?
I would like to have 658nm pass and 642nm reflect.
if you have a schema about the better angle i will win a lot of time.

    Thanks a lot

    Hi

That's how mine is working, pass 658 and reflect 642. Sorry I don't know the exact angle, but I do know it's very critical. I think you will have to spend some time experimenting to get the least losses. My lasers are not mounted parallel to each other they are angled on the baseplate to acheive the correct angles at the dichro.

    Cheers

a question again, the dichro is ok ok for

    642nm reflect and 658nm pass
    and
    658nm reflect and 642nm pass

we can change it when we want?

    Hmmm...

Not sure about that, I don't think it would work. I think you're stuck with 642nm reflect and 658nm pass. However, why not give it a try and report back?

Default It will take MORE than one BEER !!

    DJ,

The Optimum angle is about 45 Degree....eeeee....plus or minus .1 degree...Like I said in an earlier post.....I think ???? I said....the horizontal plane angle is a real pain to dial in !!!
Do really do this right...you need the abillity to adjust the angle the 642 nm beam hits the special dichro.....and you need to do this in a radial fashion.....which means you need the abillity to shift BOTH the front and back of the 642nm Laser head.....So....you keep the beam focused on one spot on the special dichro....and move the Laser head to a position in which you get the optimal output...SO....really...now I am thinking...

The 642 Laser head AND the Special dichro have ONE position ...relative to each other....in THAT position....and THAT position only will you acheive good reflectance of the 642nm beam....

It would almost seem that you could experiment with a seperate Aluminum base plate....and have on that plate mounted ONLY the 642nm head AND special Dichro.
You could then acheive the BEST reflection of the 642 nm beam via experimenting/ adjusting.

THEN...you could do one of two things..

    1) Mount your 658nm Laser head in a unadjustable fashion and then mount your 642nm+special dichro assembly and move/adjust this assembly to acheive near-field alignment of both 642nm and 658nm beams.....OR

    2) Mount your 642nm+special dichro assembly in an unadjustable fashion....and then mount your 658nm Laser head in an adjustable fashion and move the 658nm Laser head around to acheive near-field alignment.

OH SHIT....I needa Beer after thinking and typing ALL that....MORE than one BEER....
Hope ALL this is understandable.....I think it is correct..... Hey....It's Free hahahahah...I would go with #2....I think....pass me another cold one !!! Better yet...when trying to combine 642+658....have EVERYTHING adjustable.....and have a huge amount of patients !!!
