    Default LW50 Galvo Glitch

    Hey everybody,

Before asking my question, a short introduction.
My name is Marius and i'm a lighting technician from Holland.
I'm 22 years old and working as a freelancer in the entertainment industry.
Recently i've decided to enlarge my expierence with laser technology. I've bought a Laserworld RS-400 and Showtacle moncha to create simple beam and graphic shows. Now i'm facing a problem with the LW50 galvo's inside. The galvo's seem to make a loud screeching sound after using the projector for about 5-10 minutes.
with the screeching sound there's is also a clear glitch in the projection (straight lines turn into bumpy lines) this effect stays when using the projector (unless when turning off the projector and let it off for about 1 hour). After that the same problem occurs again after 5-10 minutes.
When using the laser a stand alone (not controlled by ilda) the same problem occurs (screeching sound and glitching image) so i assume the problem is in the projector itself.

    The things i have tried:

    - Reduced the image size in the software (didn't solve the problem)
    - Reduced the scan rate in the software (didn't solve the problem)
    - Reduced the image size on the LW50 driver pot's (didn't solve the problem)

I hope you can help me with this one.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
I'd check for noise on the power supplies, if they're ok - get some electronic cooling spray and use it to find the component that's osc when it gets hot...

Can you post a picture of the ILDA test pattern

They are probably not tuned good enough and they start to osccilate when they get warm.

LW50K are vert sernsitive for heat, alway wait 5-10 before tuning.

Here's a pic off the glitch.
I had the projector tuned by a laser company. They used pangolin and they created a perfected looking ilda pattern tuned @ 22K
I decided to send the projector back to laserworld so they can have a look at it. since it's still in the warrenty. If i hear anything from them i will let you know

Almost looks like 50-60hz noise leaking in from somewhere in the Y.

Looks like your galvo's are resonating somehow. Very strange. Could also be a ground loop?

EDIT: If it does it after a while, it's probably a heat issue. I don't know the LW series, but they might need a bit of oil or something on the bearings?

    Smile

I also think it has something to do with heat because when the projector cools down for 1 hour the effect is gone. And it takes 10-15 min before it's back then.
But i have no idea wich component could create such a bumpy effect on the galvo.
Peter Mayer from laserworld let's me know when he receives the projector and what is wrong with it.
Thanks for the current support though
