i have an FB3 in my projector and last saterday MCcarrot celibrated his birthday (luckely i brought the right kind of beer) and i couldn,t use it because of the distance. So yes its not very convinient so i will take it out and build it in a seperate box. So if your dac dont support ethernet like the dac from fiesta or the netlase dont build it in because its not practical

i do see the positives of using a powerful psu, but if i am to use analogue modulation how would i achieve this for each laser?

Modulation is a function of the DAC and the laser drivers, not the power supply.
The laser driver has power inputs for the laser, as well as modulation inputs.

The one DAC supplies individual modulation signals to each of your lasers, as well as the input signals to your scanner amps and the shutter.
The DAC, in turn, is controlled by your computer, or in some cases, a DMX input signal.

A "standard" projector consists of 3 lasers - Red, Green, and Blue (RGB), the necessary combining optics, an XY scanner pair with amps, shutter device & driver, and all the required power supplies, interlock circuits, etc.
It is all controlled via computer software through your DAC (controller card).

    Default Where i live

k so i am located in Oshawa On, Canada. not far from the GTA. So, if anyone can give me retailer info on where i can buy parts that would be great!

actually if anyone personally knows of any company in the area, of the GTA, that does business, having to do with lasers and/or stagelighting etc, lemme know. mainly because i am seriously lacking in a summer job to pay for any projects and cause i love this stuff!

LaserWave Lasers and a Pangolin DAC... I highly recommend Marc at CTLASERS (and also a board member) his website is: http://www.ctlasers.com/. Send him an email or give him a call, he will help you out.

Correct, some lasers have a PSU/driver in one box (the newer Laserwave units are tiny, which is nice), but many do not.

Unfortunately not all lasers require 5v, for instance my CNI green needs 12v, but my CNI blue needs 5v. The answer to my problem was an ATX PSU, this gives me +12v @ 38A, +5v @ 24A , has the added benefit of standby +5v for the interlock and startup system and -12v that my scanfail board needs.

Laserwave drivers need 5v, viasho 5 and 12 so thats why is have also a 12v traco in my projector.

The traco,s boards are 51mm byb 102 mm.

But if you buy laserwaves you only need the 5v version. Very good quality and reasonable priced.

Cni are sold by MCcarrot, Laserwaves are sold by Marc.

    Here,s the website from Mccarrot:

If you need a scanset i have two a 2. A 30k set and a 50 kpps set If your intersted or have questions
while your building your projector let me know

    Default diode laser

ive been looking at laser sites lookng for a deal , i dont have much money, and my father isnt keen to lend me money. so ive been looking at ultralasers.com, their lasers are quite cheap, lemme know if i should stay away from them.

ive noticed that red lasers are primarily sold as diode lasers, they also have a much larger beam 7x7 vs 1.5 mm^2 will that be a problem?
