Laser Warning Has anyone here tried one of these?

Just spotted this on Ebay, could save having to lug a laptop and DAC around - just wondered if anyone has tried one yet...

The thing seems bizzare. Look at the Palettes list, Look at the color output voltages. No point rate, no frame rate. Ouch...

I think that's a really neat little gadget for its intended purpose, i.e. it would be suited for maybe playing some simple halloween/ christmas frames in a remote location such as a rooftop, but using it as a live display controller etc would open up a whole new can of worms with regard to safety/ scan fail and so on!

you could even hack it to control stuff with the 0-5v modulation lines, like... umm... led's. and stuff.

I'm getting one of these tomorrow. DMX controllable and seems to have the configurability the OP unit lacked.

ETA: according to NRG it actually supports 24-bit colour, not the 7 stated on that page.

This from JM laser looks to be a better deal.

Mines - from the eBay link above - is one of those in a box, basically, with a PSU.
