I really want to get some safety training. Wasn't planning to go to SELEM but this sounds like a really good opportunity. Is it in North Carolina?

    Adam,

I'm in for a safety seminar, either at SELEM or streaming. I hope to be there this year.

Casey Stack is worth the 100 bux a person. I spent a few evenings in the shop with him in Bellevue washington in the fall of 1988 at Laser Fantasy. I was working for a group that was doing the haunted house production, and it happened to be 2 doors over from their shop. I learned alot about laser show systems from him.

CAN you put CASEY on the Friday??? My boss is much more willing to give me Thursday Friday off then have me miss a Monday. I only have two weeks of vacation this year and would prefer not to trash that much of it.

The problem with having Casey's seminar before SELEM is that it will end up competing with the event. Having it on Friday is definitely out of the question, as Friday is the load-in day. I'll be busy all morning getting the scaffold ready, and at noon we have access to the auditorium for the setup. That will run until 5 in the evening.

We *could* try to do this on Thursday, August 19th, but we'll still have people sitting in there with SELEM on their minds. That's why I really liked the idea of pushing it to Monday, when SELEM is all done with. This way people can concentrate on the seminar and not worry about the projector they've got sitting in their hotel room that is only half-assembled. (And that they want to finish before SELEM.)

As far as vacation goes, I don't see the difference between taking Thursday and Friday off vs Friday and Monday (or whatever). Either way we're only adding 1 day to the event, right?

    Adam

PS: Jeff pointed out that I had originally written "May 23rd" in the first post in the thread. This is obviously wrong, as SELEM is in August, not May. So the day I'm looking at is Monday, August 23rd, after SELEM. I've edited the post to reflect this. (Thanks Jeff!)

We can probably work something out with the chat... As long as we have decent Internet connectivity at the event, the video feed should be good enough for live participation.

I would be interested in paying to watch the live stream as I can't
make it to the event in person.

This sounds really interesting, a big Kudos for Casey being willing to do this at cost! Is there a photocopier at or near the venue? This sounds like an important opportunity to have reference materials and forms available as handouts
