Hey guys;
I've been in contact with Casey regarding the safety seminar, and it appears that there are some copyright issues that may prevent us from broadcasting or even video-taping the event.
I should have more information in a week or so, but right now it's looking like you'll have to attend in person.
Adam
Oh no. This is a major disappointment... I seriously hope that you will be able to stream/video the event.
I agree; I was disappointed as well.
However, Casey has negotiated licenses with several different copyright holders, and the cost of those licenses would raise the per-person cost to something close to $800! That was out of the question...
But by donating his time to a non-profit group, he's fairly certain he'll be in the clear. Not so, however, if we broadcast or video-tape the event.
To our credit, I mentioned that we could restrict the audience to only PL members, and also that we'd limit the distribution of the recorded video. I've yet to hear back from Casey on these points. But as it stands right now, it doesn't look good...
More to come soon...
Adam
Well, I am very appreciative of your efforts - regardless of the outcome!![]()
Bump.. any news on this (whether PL SELEM attendees have to be there in person for any interaction or benefit)
Hey Andrew;
Sorry for the lack of an update. I'm still trying to get in touch with Casey to get the final ruling on this point. He didn't answer my last e-mail, so I've been trying to catch him on the phone. Understandably, he's a very busy guy.
I hope to have the details nailed down in the next week so people can start signing up.
Adam
I won't be at the rest of SELEM, but is this seminar something I could register to attend independent of the rest of the event?
Yes. Keep your eye on this sub-forum for details as we get closer.
It looks like we'll be using Webex for the broadcast. I'm going to be doing some testing over the next few weeks to see how it works out, and we'll do at least one "live" test prior to the event so that everyone who will be watching remotely has a chance to try it and be sure it's working for them.
