Here are some photos of a temporary test rig. It uses an ashperic collimator initially and then a cylindircal lens beam expander to improve the divergence of the slow axis.

If those things do tend to scale with power, they could be 'abused' as off-the-shelf show-ready projectors, by simply feeding them vector graphics.
no the microprojectors are using low power stuff... these are from those LED/Laser projectors that are using a blue laser (and a phosphor or some other magic to make green) and a red LED

they use a DLP chip so they still require focus unlike the MEMS projectors

    THank you Lava..

love your pro laser alignement tools combined with the red steelwires.

The beam is quite fat ?, guess it will be hard to make a nice tight galvo aproved beam from that or?

    Hi,

My today tests of this 444nm no-name diode #24 resulted in ca. 2x12mm spot at 4m distance.
Optic used was a 405-G-1 lens in a 10.5mm dia brass mount.
Treshold, slope and power was up to specifications.

hah, yeah the copper wires make for a easy rough positioning method then the micro manipulators are used for fine tuning. The beam I'm getting at the exit is about 5mm x 2mm, with probably 90% of the power in the 4mm part. Aspheric was the 405-G-1 but that lens has a 1.5% coating, so it could be better.

Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures, the only camera on hand was a buddy's iphone. There is a lot of bleeding in the beamshot, the beam itself at that point was about 2x3mm. The beam expander takes care of the divergence resulting in the 12mm spot dimension lesioq mentions.

Iphones are probably the worst cameras ever to catch the 400-500nm spectrum.

Ive strugled with this myself many times. although only with 405nm and those are tricky on any camera.
