    Default Strobes and hazers

First off guys I'm looking for some martin atomic strobes. I would like as many as I can get for under £1000 iv found them for £460 new but would be happy buying second hand if the price is alot better. I just can't bring myself to spend £1000 on 2 strobes. I know there amazing strobes but that's alot of money.

Also I'm Looking for a good high output haze machine and was wondering what people suggest? Iv used the look solution one and it was good but it was in a theatre i used it and due to the high ceilings the haze went straight up and didn't fill the room as well as I hoped. It did to a point but the level of smoke 10 foot from the stage was very minimal. I had rigged a Jen smoke machine at the back of the room so used that to help but would like a hazer capable of doing a room the size of about 2000 people. Any advice would be appreciated

    thanks ollie

    Hi Ollie,

Good choice on the Atomics, although from experience I would get new ones. The newer PCBs are better [Old ones blew out the HV tracks on the PCB], you get warranty and a new flash tube (lamp).

2 for £1000 doesn't sound bad, if you put them on high power mode you'll be very surprised with the output. Just one word of warning, make sure you have a 32amp supply EACH for them if running in high power mode!

As for a hazer, have a look at the Jem / Martin K1 hazer! Very quiet, uses an insanely small amount of fluid and I was impressed with the fine haze output from the unit.
Or if your budget stretches have a look at a DF50 hazer, an efficient crack oil hazer (the haze lasts FOREVER!).

If you want good used strobes, look on Ebay or at a used gear dealer for High End Dataflash strobes. I see them for 200-250 USD, plus the controller will run anywhere from 200-500 USD, depending on which you get (mini or full). Sometimes you get get great package deals off ebay. I got four for 500 USD off ebay several years ago. Most of my D's are 17+ years old and they work great. In 14 years of use, I've blown only 2 bulbs. Just be aware of which version you buy; the AF1000's and the original D's are not interchangeable and do not use the same controller.

Iv used the atomic a couple of times and it is an extremly good strobe but I just can't bring myself to buy 2 strobes for the same price as i can get at least 1 watt of green 532 for. They are so expensive considering all they do is
flash. I love the crowd blinder feature of them though which ov never seen on any other strobe.

    Iv found this
    http://www.aliexpress.com/product-gs...olesalers.html

which I'm very unsure of as it's a very cheap Chinese copy but it does have 4 channel
dmx and says it has a crowd blinder feature so sounds similar to the atomic but cheaper and lower quality.

    Iv also found this
    http://shop.etsnet.co.uk/prolight-th...robe-153-p.asp

it looks better quality than the other one but I'm very concerned as it only has a flash rate up to 15 per second so doesn't sound like it has the blinder feature which I love.

Don't know at the moment as I ultimatly want the atomic but I think it's stupidly over priced as is all martin equipment.

Ummmm sorry for the double thread but iv just found an exact copy of the
    martin atomic on this website

    http://www.chinesedepartmentstore.com/

it's item number 5398 (sorry my browser won't let me copy the link properly.

I'm shocked at how much it's an exact copy of the martin version. In fact not only is the unit the same but it's got all the decals on and even is comparable with the martin destroyer lighting controller

    WTF?????

Can anyone offer any way this is possible cause I don't want to get ripped off if this is false information
