You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    Hahaha Good one!!!

Maybe Andy is willing to do the milling for free that would for sure help. Any other volunteers?

For people that missed the link here it is again:

    http://inequalityforall.com/

I bought an awesome mount, milled by Andy and it wasn't from China and it wasn't $30.
That is because Andy has a job next to it and does it in his spare time, Pat did it for a living

highly doubt the metal shop you're supporting gets the aluminum from anywhere but China. The thing is, you're going to be supporting China in some way. China turns out more aluminum than any country, more screws, more optics, more PCBs, more capacitors, pots, resistors, diodes, etc etc etc.... So you mean to tell me that you support local companies that do all of these things? That makes no sense. This is a world economy. As such, you have very little choice in where your "support" is going
I,m well aware that the Local metalshop is part of the global economy. If you watch the movie the Robert Reich gets an Iphone from one of his students and asks which country makes the most of money from the Iphone. Most students think its the USA but manufacturing is done in Japan so they make the most.

So where should i get my metalparts manufactured , at a local metalshop or go to china? I rest my case.........

This is a ridiculous statement. You're comparing apples and oranges. Apple doesn't make money on the phones. The phone is an avenue to make them money after the consumer has already bought it. iTunes and the Apple Store is where the money's at. It's the same reason why Google makes money from a free software platform, Android.

You think Andy's prices are cheaper because he isn't selling to make a living? That's a new one to me. Thanks, Andy for the charity then!

I am going to stop here because it's very clear that you don't actually know what you're talking about. You have a very skewed image of business as it pertains to the economy and I think it is largely because you have a chip on your shoulder for ????????? To continue would be pointless.

Why should that story tell you you shouldn't use the best value parts machinist? Why does it matter where makes the most profit if your product is priced out of the market because you chose a subcontractor hat is too expensive?
I find your rested case makes no sense

Ok since many people are convinced that Pat,s mount should be allot cheaper to produce, who wants to quit his job, and does all the work including milling , shipping ,ordering materials etc all for 5-8usd? Lets see how many are willing to do this. Absolom you perharps?

    Good luck !!!

Pat, Thanks for being arround and did what you did. You tried and that what counts........

    Your still missing the point.

Cheap to make but you would sell with profit so they would be more expensive than $8

you guys will all "get it" When China buys up all the real estate in your country and becomes your landlord, destroys your income and industry, destroys the value of the dollar & euro and makes you just another assembler making crap for the world to consume. Today they work for us, tomorrow your kids will work for them. I don't blame them...I blame us, the mindset, for being so cheap that we would sell out our economies and industry for a few dollars (money is the illusion, you wouldn't need to get things cheaper if the money had more value). China is positioning themselves to be the ONLY global super power and they will achieve it. The last ditch effort to save the US will be an all out nuke war, I'm sure that will be fun. They are buying up all the gold they can to be the next global reserve currency backed by gold not "the faith in your governments". Your value of your dollar is being printed away intentionally to destroy the US economy. Teach your kids Chinese language..they will need it.

I don't care anymore if anyone buys my crap...I'll throw it in the trash before I will sell out my labor for a few dollars because China or the global marketplace can make it cheaper.

Money is the big illusion anyway...your self respect and labor is the only thing that has any value.

Global economy? Sure take the chip, and become a slave to the one world government. It is in your face...deal with it. meh...im gonna go smoke a bowl...

Pat did things to make a living and have to pay taxes and what not. So its a choice, support the hobbyist wich pays no taxes or buy from china since they can do things cheaper or buy from Pat. Choosing the cheap way means the local metalshop wich your neigbour is working is being screwed. Try to explain that to him.........
A hobbyist isn't going to steal enough machine work to put a machine shop out of business or even put a dent in their sales. And if a hobbyist (at least in the US) isn't paying taxes on money they make on the side then they are guilty of tax evasion, which is a felony. A significant amount of the money I make from Spaghetti goes to taxes.
