    Does the soot stay on the tube? I´d be affraid of contaminating the optics. Or can you fixate it somehow?

    I'd think that depending on what was burned the soot would stay put pretty well since soot is often somewhat oily. Once it's sealed in there, I would think it would stay put indefinitely.

    whats interesting about these multi diode diodes is that its more useful slightly unfocused than focused.

    unfocused you get a more round/square dot

    that would be awesome no need to uncollimate them

    RIGHT!!!,

    Im going to make this my project, once DOC and DR.Lava figure out the optics required, and tec's required for cooling.....

    should yield 3-4 watts of 445, with a 4mm square beam profile
