thing is realistically, the people building these things are (hopefully, god hopefully) aware of what lasers are and the dangers of them... like mentioned earlier the real issue is going to be going after people selling complete (assembled) pointers etc... everyone on PL should (hopefully) realize that a class IV laser demands respect, serious respect, and is not, at any point in time, a toy... sure, you can point at things, and burn tape, but as a demonstration laser, fine, but never ever ever treat it as a "toy"

and no I would not expect a "Get Well" card if I did something stupid with my laserscope cause that would be my own damn fault

A class 4 pointer is a weapon. It may not be intended to be used as such, but it has many of the attributes of a weapon. Personally I can't think of any reason for that kind of power in a handheld, but far be it from me to tell anyone they shouldn't be able to have one if they want.

I was actually thinking about putting one in a maglite... full 4D cell unit, for a "house club" in case someone gets past my dog while I or the boss is at home. A quick blast to the face with the beam to literally blind them and then use it like a Cop... Might even be better to exagerate the rectangle beam to make it get both eyes. x2
