    Default The killer red diode......warning

One must use caution with this LED. Extremely powerfull. Operates from a 3vdc source. Pinout as follows from left to right....wire #3 is+ and wire #4 gnd as pictured. It will work with a couple 1.5 vdc batteries. Warning.....do not have it directed at you or anything living with eyes....If it were collimated a bit....what power. I think I have some lenses that may do the trick....portable red floodlamp...possible navigation lamp for aircraft. This was mounted on a TEC and heatsink assy.

Is the printed number; a model no. or serial no.?
Was that from the A130 or A140?

...just because mine have different no.'s on them...

Model A140....49298 printed near the connector. May have a 130 next week. Same diode array. Be warned....it is a very bright unit for sure. It may be able to consume more current/voltage than I hit it with. I just wanted to see it working. Doesn't seem to generate enough heat to warrant TEC cooling...

    Mike,

What was the LED current in the projector, and how much heatsinking on the Phlatlight LED?

that kind of looks like the LED in some LED tower lighting they have been installing on some of the radio towers around here... the LED's in those things are ungodly bright... can be seen further distances than the giant Xenon strobes they replaced

That looks like a pt54. You can hit that thing with 13 amps. It is good for about 750 lumen or so.

I have a rgb set of it's bigger brother the pt120. And yes they are unbelievably bright.

If you run them to the max they do get very hot.

I have had a quick play too.
Of the 8 wires going to the LED 3 are Common Anode, 3 are Common Cathode and the other 2 read 10k (likely thermistor since the LED was mounted on a peltier)
Tempted to run up the TEC and run 10A through the LED it to see what catches fire....

750 lumen doesnt sound ungodly bright? sure, its hell of flux for a single emitter.. but not more than a 60w lightbulb produces? maybe its the intense, uncommon color..
uk-laser, do you say the LED was mounted on a TEC in the projector?
