I will pick up the throw away pans for hakzaw1 and I will bring him a large pot for "taters". I will be coming into town Friday around noon so I would be more than happy to pick up some of the other needed items then.

Thanks for volunteering to help out, Ireedz! Between you, Hakzaw1, and Mophead, I think we've got it covered. You guys might want to swap phone numbers via PM so you can hammer out the details between you.

As for what time to eat, I think Chris nailed it: We'll work around your schedule. I was thinking sometime between noon and 3 PM, but we can be flexible. So pretty much whatever works for you guys is cool with us.

    Doug:

I think we'll be able to get in early. 9 AM for sure, maybe even 8:30. I'll be at the Trotthouse, so we can have breakfast together and then head on over to the venue. (We can drag Stuka with us, as he'll be there too.) Sound cool?

That's pretty much what I was thinking. If we eat late lunch, 2-3ish, hopefully it will be enough to tide everyone over for the rest of the night. There could be some folks with medical issues that *have* to eat on schedule. If a diabetic takes their shot then doesn't eat until 3 hours later...could be a problem. Just trying to look out for everyone and their own needs which I would have no way of knowing unless I ask.

ireedz is down for the tater stockpot- a few big al pans and any good kind of BBQ sauce to spice up the baked beans--thanx ireedz

I have exchanged cell # with him and Doug, DocJohn, Dougs wife-Adam has it and I think-

on my to-do list is ThePitMeisters famous icechest taters and baked beans w/ bacon/onions/bbq sauce and a few jalos.(assistant pork slicer, server and KP)

still need a flipper style ice cream scooper for the taters- makes servng them much easier....

That still leaves Doug on the hook for a lot of other things though, so I agree that it would be nice to have a tip jar for him.

The same thing goes for Steve Roberts. I'm sure he'll be working on several ion lasers in the backstage hallway this year, just like last year. So I think it's only fair that people tip him if he helps you get your laser working. (Thinking pizza or beer money here.)

    Len;

What are you planning to cook up? And do you want Doug to bring that stuff, or are you asking someone else to bring it? Might be able to get one of the local folks to get some of that, if anyone wants to volunteer... (Worst case, it looks like most of it will be available at a grocery store.) Any takers?

As folks offer to pick up some of the needed items for the taters and beans I will cross them off the list and I can pick up the rest locally.. Doug and I have been PMing so its looking like we are pretty organazzizzed---

    Doug, Len,

Why not post the "items needed list" as part of the 1st message, as Adam did for the sign-up thread? I'd like to see what y'all have in mind, as well as list stuff that may get left out.

I'm flying in so bringing stuff from Texas will be difficult, but I'd still like to help where I can. Maybe some Spicy Stubb's BBQ sauce (sounds like there will be plenty of sauce though), pickled hot garlic, etc.

Put me down for all of the paper plates and plastic cups (16 oz. or better). More if needed, or as I can bring and/or find locally.

You can never have too much BBQ sauce. I love to sample different sauces. Maybe bring a small bottle.

Grrrrrrrrrr......The meat should stand on it's own.

    Just joking.

Actually, believe it or not, I'm going to bring a sweet and tangy sauce. It's not really a BBQ sauce. Y'all'll be shocked at what's in it.

    Thumbs up

I've got 10 jars of sauce I'll be bringing. Several flavors of tomato base, several flavors of mustard base, one spicy mustard base, and one spicy tomato base, plus a traditional Carolina blend. Don't have anything on the thermonuclear scale of hotness though, so if you're a Bhut Jolokia fan, you might want to bring your own death sauce...
