Default Which is the most expensive colour now ???

    First of all:

    1. Thanks andythemechanic for spreading the news from lf to pl !!!

    2. Thanks Casio for building such a device (a blue LED light source wouldn't have done it??? ) !!!

There is only one question left for me:

    3. Which colour is the most expensive one NOW ???

    Green is now at a 1 euro/mW

    640nm is now aprox 2 euro/mw.

So red is the most expensive color.

Depends on the power level. Green up to a point, but it is real hard to get a higher powered red with a decent beam. You can always build a big red... but even that gets costly for real power comparative to the 445 diodes...

I can tell you how to make a black laser! Look up pot modding on youtube

And yeah, for COMMON colours, Red is the most expensive now, for higher powers. You can get diodes that'll do ~250mW for $10 or so.

please let us know where to find 250mW CW diodes for 10 usd.

normally 250mW pulsed diodes are rated 80mW CW.

The Mitsubishi long-die open can and closed can DVD burner diodes (like the LPC-815 diode) are rated at 150mW CW/350-400mW pulse.. They'll do 250mW CW fairly reliably, and they're quite cheap. Here's a link (they cost a little over $10): http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-660nm-...item3a58fce9ba
