You should not come into a forum as a newbie and say something like "Please enlighten me". Members won't like you for that. At first you must read a lot and learn the basics, that is not done in a week or two. There is very much you can read here. Also those diodes you ordered there are not the right thing to get started with lasers if you have no experience, you might hurt yourself badly.

Sorry I did not mean to sound wise, or offend anyone. English is not my native language so, excuse me if I sounded harsh or something this was not my intention.

Didn't come off that way to me at all. Welcome to the forums!

Thank you very much. You guys have a pretty nice community. I am impressed with the builds and knowledge around this forum. Wish I wasn't so isolated geographically... Best wishes

I thought these 445nm diodes had similar beam characteristics to the high-power red diodes? What different correction is needed?

the 445 diodes are multi mode so you need additional lens to get a decent beam out.

you could use a standard lens when combining 24 445 diodes but the results would be pants

I'm inclined to disagree there man. I think with nothing more than aixiz lenses, I could around 30w in a <8mm, 2mrad beam. I sure wouldnt complain at a 30w, 8mm, 2mrad beam.. That's a hell of a lot of burning power

really? and how would you do that?

i put a 445 diode with a standard aixiz lens throguh some telescopic lens and it did nothing to help at all. i still got a big straight line out.

with a standard aixiz lens at about 16-18 metres im getting a line of 30mm by 5mm.

In saying the Aixiz lens, I was referring to the Aixiz 405nm lens, which gives me under 2mrad, and a profile of around 1 x 4mm.. The rest you can probably work out yourself

Which works out to around 1.5mrad in the fast axis..
