it depends on your setup as to the lens you use.

yes the 7020h is better than the standard aixiz lens. beam at apeture is the same 3mm by 5mm but slightly better at distance.

the lens27 i believe gives a beam of 1mm by 1.5mm at apeture.


so if you wanted to combine 4 open can red diodes without any additional optics then you would need the lens27. if you were to use the 7020h then you could need telecopic lens.

4 beams using the lens27 would give you about 2mm by 3mm, where as 4 beams using the 7020h lens would give you 6mm by 10mm so you would lose alot of that off the scanner mirrors.

Yep makes sense, thanks. I'm looking at combining two with PBS so I guess the lens 27 will be the way to go. Could I then combine this with a dichro with your 635 if I were to buy it??

umm well if your going to combine two open cans with a cube then you could use the 7020h lens. you beam would be 5mm by 5mm.

yes if you could find the correct dichro you could combine 660 with 635

I'm still waiting on the group buy for the 500mW diodes before I jump on the bandwagon with the groupbuy and the one for more LPC's. When do you intend to make the order?

well i could do with the lens sooner rather than later.

but i can hold off for a bit (week or two)

I'm waiting for the results the 500mw red to.
Saying that I was going to use one or two opnext 642nm 150mw reds before the possibility of this 500mw 638nm diodes appeared.
Dave recommended the lense 27 for the opnext diodes. I know the 500mw diode will need major correction which will be via Simon's group buy prism pairs that I've got ordered for my blues.
Do yo think the lense 27 will be suitable for the 500mw diode as well?
If so put me down for 2. If you're not sure.
I'll wait to see what the verdict is on the 500s and what optics combination is best for them.

no idea as ive never put a len27 in front of the 638 diode
