The senior member of PL opened the thread about 638nm GB at LPF recently.
So I jumped to PL.
Three weeks, I think it's a enough time to wait to know only the shipping schedule.

I don't think you guys have to worry about being ripped off, Andy works all over the world. He probably had to go somewhere (Cal?) at short notice.

Please, please people remember Andy is doing this community a huge favour...

Andy has a business (not selling diodes) and as a result, contacts allowing him access to these diodes.

If Andy was running a business and making profit selling you diodes, then I'm sure you'd have a right to harass him. I don't think Andy has set any expectations here of being fast, responsive and on call as a customer service contact.

If my mate said that he could help me out next time he had a chance, I wouldn't be complaining all the time that he hasn't done it yet. He's only got your money because you're not expecting him to pay for you, right?

So give the busy guy a break please.

I can source these diodes in the UK, but with a six week lead time.

They are 10 at £159 each (~180 Euros) or 100 at £131 (~148 Euros), but add our lovely British VAT which is currently 17.5% and that's £187 (~211 Euros) and £154 (~174 Euros) respectively.

Which is ok for VAT-registered businesses in the UK, i.e. me, but crap for everyone else as you seem to be mostly in the US.

I think we just need patience. I'm sure Andy's very busy.

The problem is not the waiting, when you know for how long. I bought these diodes under the assumption that Andy has 20 diodes on hand (mentioned above) to be bought immediately. If he would have said in 4 weeks or more than one could have decided accordingly.

I’m pretty sure others were under the same impression.

UK VAT is 15% at the moment, going to 20% from Jan 1st 2011. I love our government, could not think what to do with all of my money so they offered to take it off of my hands.

UK VAT hasn't been 15% since 1st Jan 2010 when it went back to 17.5%. Keep up at the back there
