Sure it does. I'm not jumping on the bash LPF wagon but if the site owner has any integrity they would drop ads from bad companies. Hell, LPF gets enough page views they could make a fortune from ads geared toward teen/young male adult porn ads. Money is money, right?

This is the kind of crap you find on wickeds fourm. I think when he gets is new laser he should put it up to his eye to see if it works.

For the record, just because a website (ANY website) has banner ads on it DOES NOT mean that the site itself condones or supports the entity that payed for the ad. You're a smart guy Bob, surely you know how advertising works.

Personally, I have no doubt at all that Wicked's own ridiculously bad business sense will be their undoing. Just give it time.
if you had a website or forum would you accept banner ads from NAMBLA...where are the fucking ethics these days. Not attacking you personally...its the statement which is in question.

On a lot of that I also agree.. LPFs admin already rakes it in. That's why I don't donate.. they don't need my money if I have to look at the ads (one of a few reason's PL is so cool is that I don't have to look at a bunch of ads) but to a bigger degree your statement "money is money" is true. That's how the world really works.. It's ALWAYS about the almighty dollar in some way..

For example... a local radio station was running commercials for a website designed to help married people find a person to have an affair with. Personally, I have very low regard for people who would facilitate activities that can easily destroy families.. but I don't hold it against the radio station for airing the ad. Ads are ads.. Some of the ads I see routinely in the backs of magazines and newspapers range from asinine to offensive and everything in between, but I don't hate the paper for printing them.. money is money.. In that regard LPFs admin is no different than any other commercial media with ads in it.

I could offer their admin $XXXX for ad space for EF's Professional Laser Repair Service and they (or anyone) would take my cash and run the ad..I could be a complete fraud.. you think they're going to do background research to see if my company is "respectable"? Do you think they give half a crap? Probably not.. not LPF or nearly any media outfit. What they DO care about is whether they're making money. In a capitalist world that's just the way of things, love it or hate it.

Yeah I got a bone to pick with "Skywalker Ranch" over there, who just banned me permanently for the exact statement I just made above , , ... Guess they can't handle the TRUTH.

Who freakin' cares? It's their loss!

Doesn't change the fact that they've been willingly supporting and endorsing this company who's obviously got a long time reputation for behavior like this. If it were an individual, they'd be baited and banned without butter or the decency of a reach-around. So who's the pimp? I think the initials are A.T.

You've got to take some pills or something.. I though I was bad about being easily angered. Quite a few people from over there have been there for a long time without have any major ongoing conniption. Sure parts of it suck, but I still get a kick from some of the discussion that happens there, both laser-related and non laser-related.

In no way am I sticking up for WL, I just feel that your opinion of LPF does not in way reflect the way things actually are given the extreme nature of your short-lived existence there. Being pissed off the entire time you were a member there is likely to leave a bad taste in you mouth, even if you were responsible for much of it by not knowing when to quit. Everyone has bad experiences in life, and often you might find yourself in an unpleasant group dynamic, one where the personalities just don't gel.. it's no reason to continually go back and pick at old wounds that would just go away if you'd have let them.. but I'm sure we're all guilty of that at one time or another. Fortunately for you, most of the members here didn't watch the whole thing go down like I did. Sorry if my take on this upsets you, but it's the truth.

Their support of WL predates my appearance there, and the unethical practices that lead to my initial drama there did too (a drama that ended with me being "proved right" and big changes made). I only pissed off a few people there, just happens it's the few that run it. Like I said, so what? Their unfair treatment of me doesn't diminish their responsibility for giving voice and influence to WL. They can easily fill the space with others offering and selling class 3B and 4 lasers to minors (also welcomed on their site, no offense to the minors). The "it's only business" cop-out doesn't fly with me.

Ahh yes, so you're the sunshine and butterflies type.. the "let's all be friends and give a crap about each other" type.. the "I don't make no money type?"..

"It's only business" is a perfectly valid state of mind, and the ability to separate business from everything else is an extremely important asset to anyone looking to run a company/website/newspaper/tv station/etc.. that wants to make it profitable. Of course there are ethical standards in business, but what ads you accept is purely up to the individual. If you don't like that the ads get posted, fine.. but it's not unethical or "showing support" to accept ads that you might not agree with in some way. I'd have taken the money and posted the ad myself I ran a website that was intended to be supported in part or in full by advertising.

I agree with that to a point. Let's use me for an example:

I am in the tire business. I am 3rd generation in my family business, so I know the industry extremely well. We are quite successful. There are two things we don't sell. GoodyearŽ and sub-par imports. Why? Because we have integrity. Goodyear doesn't stand behind their warrenty and the sub-par imports can be --here comes the keyword-- unsafe.

But guess what? The two things we refuse to sell have the highest profit margins.

So I guess I am questioning LPF's owner and his integrity.
