Yes QS has bugs, fortunately they don't have a severe impact on performance, although i did have QS2 crash on me mid-show the other day.. made a little data file to send to Bill when I get time..

Pangolin has a staunch following here (and elsewhere) and for good reason. From what I've seen using my FB3 the QS system is simply awesome.

That said, not all of what smokeandmirrors said is unfactual, at least it fits in with some of my experiences with Bill. During some of my correspondence with Bill his tone wasn't exactly pleasant, particularly when I would ask about how the QS features stack up against other DAC options, he was especially unwilling to even entertain the notion that a soundcard DAC is anything other than complete garbage worthy of a dumpster, and would not believe for a second that it has any use or value.. this he based solely on the idea that the concept of the soundcard DAC was developed by people who are "less experienced" than Pangolin.. which is true, it just struck me as closed-minded. At the time I wasn't even trying to buy anything, I was just trying to participate in a conversation. Of late, the soundcard DAC has proven itself as being quite useful to many people.

Also, I have noticed that Bill seems to have real issues accepting his fallibility. He (and Pangolin) are pretty much never wrong or mistaken.. at least that's what I got out of a few of our discussions. I had asked Bill for his take (off the forum) on some issues I had read about in various places. The fact is that in the cases we were discussing there was no real issue, but there was a very distinct "Pangolin can do no wrong" vibe.. I find the idea that an entity is incapable of mistakes or errors to be entirely outside the realm of reality. No matter what the product, the companies responsible are capable of errors, no matter how huge the company or how small. There was never any open hostility or anything like that between us, I've just decided to stop tying to talk to him on a personal level. Anymore all I'm interested in is their products.. I've decided to keep the personable attempts at conversation to myself.

Or you could just upgrade to Beyond. Its sounds like its going to be really awesome. There are very few details out there but one thing I did see published publically on then Pangolin forums is that they're going to do away with the need to to have a copy of 3D Studio Max to cretae 3D and 4D effects. Apparently Beyond is going to have its own proprietory 3D creation software with real time rendering.

    Good evening All!
I'm I being really thick here (as per usual) but is the link to new build different to the version that I'm currently using?

Dont want to mess around if i've aready got it!

BTW, was using this last night for a show and it crashed four or fives, which was no big deal at the event. Crashes occurred whilst running VJ on audio input and changing between pages. Preveiw screen would freeze and lasers would shut down, most times i could get it up again by toggling blackout and enable laser but a couple of times had to close the programme. Anyone had the same?

    Cheers

There are higher versions but that doesn't necessarily mean better.

I know there was a freeze bug associated with editor use but haven't personally experienced any other crashes as such although I am aware of minor bugs. If you have, then you need to report that back to Bill and send a copy of the crash report (found in the logs folder but usually automatically offered at start up until you send it or delete it).

This is why I said earlier, using any beta for shows is very risky.

Betas are for testing, you should stick to released versions ie QS 1 for show use.

    Hiya White Light
Yeah, I realise that its still abit beta and therefore maybe a tad unstable ( I'm not saying that it is regarding previous posts, you know what i mean ).
Here's a shot of the log, which I will forward to Herr Bill at Pango, he loves my mails (not):

Gosh, what a late night! must have left the computer running, 03:26 was when i turned the lasers off, I think! ( Bit hazey by then ). None of these are pinging up as error reports.

Just a thought, was running via a usb/rj45 - rj45/usb - FB3XE - lasers stylie setup at about 15m, will try running same on dsub25 later to see if that was the problem.

Those just look like regular reports.

Error reports say "Send to Pangolin".

Try checking your Adminstrative Tools > Event Viewer > the 3 sets of pc logs in there to see if you had a pc issue.

I've had the odd brief pause caused by antivirus I think (although not necessarily av intercepting QS but rather commanding resources for elsewhere).

    Hope that helps.

Any trouble reports should be sent directly to Pangolin, and as quickly as possible, so that we can get them solved for the benefit of all users.

Due to my schedule, it is very rare that I personally am on PL these days. Basically I only come here if pointed to by another user. In this case, WhiteLight pointed to this post, otherwise I never would have seen it.

We are finished with the tutorial videos (over 3 hours and over 1 GB of data) and finished fixing the last of the problems we were aware of. This makes us poised for an official 2.0 release.

We are not aware of literally ANY "crash" bugs and we'd certainly want to investigate any of this before releasing an official version.

Please contact us directly and immediately so we can get the ball rolling with an investigation and solution.

    Best regards,

    William Benner
