    Jolly good
Has this sorted the odd lens issue out?

Just out of interest; why add TEC's to lot? Surely TEC'ing just the diodes would put less thermal load on the system?
    But I dunno!

excuse my ignorance andy but what the big black round thing at the back with a nipple

( if karl was around i could see ajoke there )

realie its not part of the actual laser setup just wondering WTF it is ?

This is all good stuff. I will be moving from my rental house to a permanent house within a month or so and I will be able to get back into the machining side of things once again. I'm pretty excited.

    Very nice work Andrew.

I have to agree with Dan though - Them are very small TEC's for such a huge lump of Ally.
Maybe smaller TEC's in series on each Diode OR one huge TEC where you have these.
Although I have suffered personally at the hands of series linked TECs..... One goes and you loose the lot (cooling wise)

What sort of temp stabilisation are you getting +/-2 degree's etc??

Is this an experimental prototype with a future of physical integration?

It does look impressive though and seeing the beam quality at the LEM - it works well too

All you need to do now is change all them little 250mWatters to 500mWatters

if you were to tec just the diode housing and use the base that holds the mirror mounts to take the heat, the actual mirror mounts them self would move. so you need to tec the whole lot.

tecing just the diodes would be better as small tecs and less power could be used, but this creates other issues.

tecing the whole unit is the best option but you need bigger tecs and more power.

    the joys of lasers...

as i said above jim heating the base with the mirrors mounts on creates other issues.
luckly with these diodes if one of the tecs dies the diodes wont pop as the unit doesnt get that hot. the beams will just fook up.

not checked the temp stability, but robins drivers are pretty well made so should be good.

yes this is/was a prototype with future plans to add more diodes but keeping the footprint as small as possible.

maybe one day on the 638 diodes
