Still interested, although not sure if I can make the 29-30th dates.. I'll keep watch to see final dates and update here when I can confirm.
I'll try to bring along some big lasers with me, but that all depends on what we've got in stock at the time.

For me, the main problem is a conflict with Photonics West in San Francisco happening right around that time, and then another chip-related tradeshow happening February 1 and 2.

In any event, keep in touch. I am sure we can send some goodies along to support the event...

Cool, thanks... Did you ask everyone about 1/21 - 23 or later? Cause, it seems like it will have to be either 1/21 - 23 or 2/4 - 6... and the 21st-weekend will be here before we blink...

Lemme know - Sir G, if you can 're-bump' those you PM'd (just one PM to 20 peeps, less-those that have posted here...) and ask about 1/21 - 23 or 2/4 - 6? Much obliged..

    Thx, Gents...

I'm still a "definite." I'm just awaiting payment and location info

I'll still be on Winter Break (until February 7th) so I can provide some inexperienced labor if needed/wanted

    Peace,
    dave

I sent another PM out to those that already responded.. I think 21-22 weekend is too soon.. Is Feb 4-5 weekend a better one? Bill won't be able to make it out that week either.

Sounds good.. Thanks for doin that... ...as soon as peeps-respond on the date-pref, lemme know, and I'll start a 'sign-up' thread... We need for this to get 'serious' now,
or it will never happen... Summer is *way* too-busy (...already booking shows, etc...)

    Default Vote: Feb 4th-6th...

After a bit of discussion... I vote for the 4th-6th of February. As for the venue situation I think we should all help Jon out and clean-up the first day, maybe we can dumpster dive ater . I would rather pay a PL'er rent for the a venue, for less than $1200 a night at other venues. We can clean his place up for freee, and a 3-phase genset at any other venue isn't more than that either!

    my few cents...

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

Lol, thanks for the 'support' Guys - but, trust-me, my 'butt's got plenty of fire under it' the main 'issue' with Van Nuys, is just that there's really hardly anywhere to
PUT the stuff! It's not so-much a 'clean-up job', as it is a 'clean OUT' job.

ie: there's a 44 FOOT long (!) top-roller screen in the loading-bay - FS, here: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...147961224.html ...cause that's the only place left in the building it will FIT! And, I can't 'leave it outside', nor can I just 'put it out to the dumpster' - it's a *monster*!

Also, in the loading-bay, there are dozens of giant aluminum tubes from a 40' x 60' Outdoor screen-Rig, that I *can't* just 'throw-away'... they have to get at *least* cut up and recycled (...unless anyone here is into 'enriching uranium' - which will be a serious-project for at least 2-guys and a 12-pack of metal-blades..
So, unless a few of ya would want to come-down, earlier in that week - like, at least 2 - 3 days in-advance, it's just not gonna get 'done in one day', trust-me on that...

Plus, there's no real 'good place' for food-service, the bathroom / front-office area needs much luv, and the 'studio-B' space is only about 20' x 30', in-total....
    Now, if ya'll wanna come-down and help me knock-out a *wall* / re-route some electrical / plumbing we could 'combine' Studio A and B, and have a ~20' x 60' space...

...I think you see my point.. don't think with my sched / timeframe, here, Van Nuys is 'ready for primetime' right-now, thanks very-muchly anyway...

SO THEN, in order-to help turn this 'discussion into a decision', I've started the "SoCaLEM 2011 Sign-Up Thread" PLEASE- DON'T POST PROS / CONS / Discussion about the proposed Venue, *there* - Let's keep THAT thread JUST for 'Sign-Ups' etc - we can continue any 'venue-discussions' here, Por Favorrr!

    Dig? Discuss...
