What is the typical situations with guests/girlfriends/wifes? Do they pay a smaller fee or how does that work?

No, pretty-sure the LEM's are always 'PL-Members-only' pay, but, of course, if the 'significant-others' are gonna eat / drink, it would only be fair to have the couple
'pitch-in' a little-extra towards the food / sundries costs, make sense?

But, please-do note that, for safety / liability-reasons 'guests' / GFs etc need to be Over 18 ...So, sorry, but that 'really hot 16 yr-old you've been pining-for', is gonna have to stay home... KIDDING!!!!

We really need people to pop over there and make a decision and commit.

    <begin paste>

I dislike the idea of this falling apart at this late date. Let's see if we can motivate a few more to commit and then pay.

I have a few things here to offer as incentive. They will go to the first 15 who pay (as judged by posting time of the payment). Of course, you will have to commit before you can pay

    I have:

7 @ ca$hipro projectors that are missing the blue. These have all the optics (dichros, lenses, mirrors) and the red LED

6 @ sets of dichros out of ca$hipro projectors. These are full size, NOT cut down

2 @ sets of dichros from Snoctony (round - 15mm dia.)

In addition I have a few pen-style green and a few pen-style violet pointers that I can add as incentive for any more than 15 paid attendees.

Hopefully this will help offset the cost for y'all

    Peace,
    dave

Lightbulb Continued from the 'SoCaLEM SIGN UP Thread'... :)

Mmm, I see the draw for the 'concept', but I'm quite-certain they won't want a 'rave' there... 'typical events' there are like weddings / chilled-out private parties, etc - and
No way I am going to open this to the 'public', with my name / rep / liability-policy on it, Sorry...

To pay $75 for just one partial day/night AND bring my 3W RGB laser with fog/haze (I won't stay if DF50 oil crackers are running, no exceptions for my lungs and gear) seems like an expensive deal. I can afford it, just difficult to justify it.
You don't have to - come for what you can / want, and if you wanna 'put in less', well, then-do... I'm not gonna set a 'parking meter' on ya, but if you set-up on Fri (which would 'logistically' be ideal / the-plan - Sat will not be for set-up, unless you wanna get in there early-early....) and stayed on Sat, it seems like it would only be 'fair' to put in what everyone else is... Sun, being there or at VNYs, will *totally* depend on how-many sign-ups / paids we actually get - Heck, if we got 25-30 DEFINTE LEMers - the cost would go-down, significantly...

The 'problem' is not the venue / cost of it, but that we don't have enough for-sure support... And no worries, if you 'for-sure' come, we'll leave the DF-50s home and bring the water-based fogger - not like we really need much, in that space, anyway...

Dunno - how hard is it? You tell me... I suggested this place, cause this LEM has been 'on the boards' since last Sept, just swirling-round in the bowl, and 'percolating' in thread-discussions for 1+ years... At *some point* you have to ' or get off the pot' so, we're trying to make this happen, and I even put it out to 'vote' with the Poll, and this weekend 'won'...certainly not a 'rushed-attempt', imo... Yes, of course we can - and I'm sure will - make SoCaLEM v2.0 bigger, badder, etc, etc... 'Burningman PreOp', on the beach, there, is a great idea... Get it rolling and let us know!

You make the call of what is best for you / yours, Bud.... Unless everyone all signs-in, and CANCELS this coming-week...well, seems like we'll give it a shot...

Also, I've called around other places, and the rate that Jon is getting is VERY reasonable.

anyone going that has any interest in non-coherent light i.e. LED lights? I've got a a little bit of experience with that kind of stuff and can bring a few.

    Lightbulb SoCaLEM Dinner Discussion...

    Hey Kats -

OK, so, what are thoughts / suggestions for 'Dinner' on Fri nite?

My thinking was that if most-everyone is 'tight' on their Budget, we can get a 'PartyPak' from such places as 'El Pollo Loco' and/or 'Baja Fresh' / 'Chipotle', etc all at a fairly-reasonable price, overall.. And since the 'Metronome' has a full kitchen / food-storage area, it might be more 'time-efficient' than coordinating all going-out, etc...

Though, if all vote to go out to a local-place, there are some decent-eats, in the area, there, with 'party-capacity', ie: Shakey's Pizza, or - my vote - 'California Pizza Kitchen'

    What thinkums you?

California Pizza Kitchen sounds fine too me, but I'm up for anything.

Also, for those that haven't been to LA, like myself, here's an eHow article on how to blend in with the local wildlife:

I look forward to going to what's shaping up to be a very proper LEM. I could imagine making this a yearly affair to make up for SELEM only being an annual event, so far.

I'll be bringing my 3 watt green projector. Will there be a lighting stand or PAR can mounting clamp handy? I can use both, but don't typical fly with either.

anyone interested in a isomet AOM (model 1205C-2) I pulled off a HeNe? I've got no ways to power it so It's free to anyone interested.

looks like I won't really have a laser to bring to this meet. I will have normal lights, though!

    Well-

Cant do it. Sorry everyone. Too much came up and it would not be too wise for me to travel cross country. Had water coming into my basement to fix. Roof seems to be leaking from this 400 feet of snow we have gotten. ended up booking a show with what seems to be a pretty good client to keep VERY happy. and just dont think it would be smart to be too far away from all of this for a weekend.

I hope you ALL have a blast!! someonme drink a beer for me. Jon- really sorry man. Trust me, wish i could come but just cant right now.
