Default FlexMod3 Driver and 445nm diode. Problems

    Hi friends!

first problem: I connected diode to flexmod3. device works normal, temperature of diode cooling is normal. But when is no signal - diode is light. (power near 20-30mW). why?

and after few minutes of work - diode power is down (near 200 mW) and change time to time. what happened?

Even when below lasing threshold, the diode will still emit light. I have the same issue with my 445's running on flexmod 2's. Even connecting to an idle FB3 which has very low level residual voltage causes the power to rise.

Lasing threshold is around 200mA and the 445 thread suggests a bias of about 170, however I have mine down at about 10 or 20mA to reduce the LED emission and it seems to work fine.

The power fluctuations sound heat related - there are other threads in the section that go into detail about power reduction at temperature.

    .
The only downside of doing this is limiting the modulation range.
