Go to the top menu bar and click "Settings" then "Quick Targets Beams Settings".

You'll get up a safety dialogue. Agree. All you need to do is then set up the targets and you should now find the page active (at least for this session). I haven't tried it but I'm guessing with the safety issue, activation is probably non persistent between sessions.
They are persistent, and probably are stored in the workspace. A new install will give you a new default workspace, ergo targets turned off.

All beams start at 10% power, which is a reasonably safe level to do setup at. Just make sure you set up the target ZONE to be narrow and way above the horizon before you start switching stuff on.

Cross posted with you after editing mine, hence why the persistence para is missing.

Some good additonal advice there Smoke. I've never used these myself.

Go to the top menu bar and click "Settings" then "Quick Targets Beams Settings".

You'll get up a safety dialogue. Agree. You should now find the Target page indicating active (at least for this session), however you still won't be able to display anything.

The beams will only display if you activate them individually in the set up page.

So choose a target beam effect you want from the targets page eg beam 4, then go to the set up page. Click that beam number, then when the room is safe, click "Activate Target Beam" at the top of the page. That cue will then become active. To de-activate click the de-activate button beside it. If you haven't selected the cue phsyically in the Targets Page and left it playing then it won't immediately display. To display it, click the cue in the target window whilst main output is enabled (obviously checking the room is safe 1st). You'll have to then go back to the setup dialogue to move it around to hit the target.

Warning: If you clicked the desired cue in the Target Page 1st and had output enabled BEFORE the cue was enabled in the set up page, then when you click the beam activation dialogue in the setup page the beam will become active immediately. This is obviously so you can move the beam around to hit the target and to stop you having to go back and forth between the pages as described above. However obviously care has to be taken to ensure the room is safe BEFORE this point so the room should be cleared before any kind of set up procedure is initiated.
yeah, thanks for that info........i'm there ...all sorted
    appreciate it you guys !

Default Bit of an odd problem.

I downloaded the latest version (282) but this computer will not allow me to extract the files, as it says they are harmful. At the same time the executable file of the previous version (273) vanished from it's folder. I can still run an old version fine (200) but there is something odd going on. I tried another computer and it worked fine, but if I put the extracted files on a usb key and try to move them to this computer, they vanish off the key. Winrar returns an error trying to unpack them, as does pkzip.

It all works fine on another machine (XP pro), so It's something to do with this machine (XP home), but having googled the problem and been thrown a very wide array of solutions, but nothing seems to fix it. Anyone got any suggestions or had a similar problem? I have run out of things to try, and it was all very happy before I tried this update!

    Try redownloading it from here:

    http://www.pangolin.com/_Files/Setup_QS2.exe

This is the latest public version.

Thanks for that, unfortunately it still does not work. The installation works but the desktop icon and start menu link that this produces bring up the "looking for link search thing" the executable file is missing from the installation. The links also do not display the quickshow Q, they show the little file symbol that I used to see with DOS programs

Bit lost on this, the computer seems to have taken offence to quickshow! Though as far as I know, I haven't changed anything.

All new Pangolin programs are compressed by The Mida/Winlicense. This tool is also often used by spyware & other harmful programs to hide their code. This is why virus scanners sometimes give false positives. NOD32 also gives me a warning from time to time but it's possible to ignore and keep te file from being deleted.

Try to update your virus scanner's signatures and install QS again.

It definately sounds like a problem specific to your pc rather than with QS itself.

I've compressed it again here for you using Windows Zip Facility, see if this works:

    ATTACHEMENT NOW REMOVED

I'll be taking this down as soom as you've got it so let me know when downloaded.

Thanks for that, I have downloaded a copy, but it seems it was the Mcafee anti-virus (which I thought was turned off) needed an update. I will keep your windows zipped file in case I get further problems!

    Thanks for your help!
