Default Laser Workshop Cam - LIVE

    hey

All over the world , people are working away in their garages , workshops , bedrooms , living room floors etc , could be cool to have a bit of company , advice as you go !

With the advent of webcams etc , there must be a way to build a LIVE community , might just be as simple as MSN group meetings , but im not sure about the tech or whats best .... anybody else feel this is a cool idea ?

    How can it be developed

    ?

We could sit at our computers watching people drinking beer and smoking.
Or we could go out and watch people drinking beer and smoking.

Now if I could get a webcam on the two Polish babes next door.....................................

^ Comment above gets a + from me for it's epicness

someone with a "decent" connection has to set up a server.

I don't really know a chatting program for groups out of my head but well the link for the server can be mentioned at the top of the photonlexicon page.
    For camera chats.
    *googles for an suitable application*

I had that idea already, only a server would not be handy.

I am personally thinking of placing a IP cam with its own embedded website.
So the limit of the bandwidth would be my upload speed.

But have not found the right camera for that.

    It must have audio,
    No IR.
Minimum of 1Mpix and absolutely no AGC (Automatic gain control).
And preferably also a method to relay its feed to a messenger client.

If somebody has got some good advice?

Bearing in mind I really dont know what im talking about .. I dont even own a webcam !

I imagined a paticular webpage people log there cams into , it either shows multiple live cams ( if thats possible ) or an indication someone is online and live and you can all chat similtanously ( conferencing ?) or maybe you need to log into one person ?

My own garage is almost ready to become my laser workshop and i guess i will be in there a lot writing shows / building etc , be nice to have a bit of company either gaining comments / watching people work , getting advice live etc

Not sure whats needed and certainly dont have the abilty to set anything up but i guess these applications shoudl be available although my own breif web searches came to nothing likely as im not exactly sure what im looking for

Any ideas folks ? who knwos vbullitin might even have an add on ? as to be successful it might be best if it was an easy find within PL

Anyways if you know what im on about please throw in your tuppence worth

I know the old MS Netmeeting worked fairly well; I am sure MSNmessanger took some parts from it. Should be easy with a group with hotmail accounts.

Webex supports multiple simultaneous webcams in a single session. Not free though.
