    bum tish bbum bum tish.......

So here's da funny thing y'all
    my scope design was twisted
now I'm fisted in the ring hole
    as big fat Dave insited

I pleaded for my phone call
    to ask for some assistance
I got that call but wait y'all
that voice was not my sister's

It was nasty Nasty P from Lexicon
    and much to my disturbance
he laughed at me and said right out
Dave's been paid off well, to give my hole some vengence

Now in my cell I'm dreamin
about big fat Dave n' reamin'
if only I'd fitted an interlock
and summat t' keep the beam in

Yes, and for-that, Steve, I would dye for you.... ...Sorry... that was bad, I know...

...BUT, having the K-R and DCM, in themselves, doesn't help me nail the 'exact mix' that LS-uses (considering other potential quenchers / additives that I certainly-wont have...)
and I've been too 'scaredy-cat' to risk 'worsening' the performance of what I've got... and, as you know, 'purging / refilling' such a system, just to 'play' with a mix - especially if
it takes a few tries - ain't exactly a 'fun chore'...

Anyhoo, seems like the best thing to do is just find one, with a 'fresher' dye-cartridge and go from there... Or, yeah, sure - hock a kidney and drop the $1250. on a new one... but where's the fun in that?...

    peas...

    Hey Sir Piotr -

    Good to hear from you!

Thanks! Makes perfect-sense, here's a plot of its 'cousin'...

..Just goes to-show where 'guessing' gets-you! This is exactly-why I really didn't wanna 'trial and error'... tho, I don't think DCM / Kiton would necessarily 'bomb' the output, but, not sure how 'mixing' either of those with the SR 640 would-fare, efficiency-wise... wonder what is used in the SR to 'groom' the output towards 640? Comments, Sir Tocket?

    Great info, thanks, Piotr!
    cheers...

The amount of water in the LS mix comes as something of a surprise to me, but actually thinking about it, water is a polar solvent and polar solvents are known to shift the dye peak.... Regards, Dan.

Weird how 454 is only 3nm away from 457, but it's waay over to the right

Yeah, that might very well-be 'faulty-labeling' I was going off-of the 'typical' / charted-lines for Argon, and 'visually-labeled' them, not 'properly', via spectrophotometer, etc... But, the 'point' that the photo-makes, is still valid, ya know? Several-lines of color, zero 'convergence-issues', great beam-quality, all in "One laser, have a nice day" (...never-mind the boat-load of power and gallons of wasted-water...)

Yeah, I was surprized to see that %, too.. Well, 'you learn something new, everyday', eh?

Interesting.. Perhaps, then "SR 640" is, indeed, a 'tailored blend' of sulforhodamine and DCM? Hmm...

Just found this thread - thanks Jon. I posted a photo of my deck mounted LS dye system at least a couple years ago? 15 watts 630nm. Sulforhodamine dye (which I believe is non toxic or at least non carcinogenic correct me if I'm wrong) with a solvent of 50/50 methanol and distilled water. LS attained conversion efficiencies up to 43% when they were developing these dye modules. BTW I still have a few dye modules and KTP lasers for sale if anyone is interested.
