    Default Herro!

    Another update for ya guys!

I feel like I have had your money for a long time but we are on the home stretch now. I just have to finish painting the top/bottom and front/back panels and order a few more hardware parts and the manufacturing will be complete. This should take about two weeks to complete and get all the parts wrapped for shipping.

I will need some input later for packing and shipping these babies. I want to make sure they arrive to everyone in good condition. I will come up with a packing solution then post some pics to see if everyone approves.

    Heres the side panels painted:

Fine Texture Matte black powder coat.

There was some build up on the texturing of the powder coat but it is easily cleaned up with a razor blade. And you don't have to worry about scratching the panels, this paint is tough as nails, and really thick too. I will try and have the texture build up fixed on the rest of the panels.

Heres my finger after getting slammed in a car door! It was one of the worst pains I have every felt. I have all ready had the nailed drilled and drained and also the skin lanced and drained. Luckily its not broken so I'm working fine.

There might be two things that hold the shipping date back.

The ILDA boards are being build right now and Rob is working on a mod for the board the allows the shutter to work with a GM20(and no driver needed). But I have to ship a GM20 to him to test it. The boards should be completed and shipped about the time I finish the cases but I'm not sure yet.

Edmunds Optics did not have enough glass windows to fill my order. I ordered the windows almost 3 weeks ago and all I have received is a letter saying they ran out of stock, but no date on when they can fill the order. I will have to call them next week to find out when they will be shipping my way.

Looks good mate. I am pleased to see you went with textured powder coat. I prefer this to gloss as it does not show finger prints and wears very well.

Looking forward to the completed product.

    Default Ouch!

That finger looks bad. Keep one hand on the door handle and one hand in your pocket to avoid this injury. Works on car doors, fire proof file cabinets, almost everything with a handle. Can't always be avoided though, especially if someone else is "helping" you.

The good thing about the injury is how great it feels when they drill your fingernail and relieve the pressure. Last time I did that I could feel the pain throb with every heartbeat. Ow! After piercing my fingernail with a hot wire probe, the Doctor said to his assistant, rather matter of factly, "I cured him". He was right. What a relief.

Under nail trauma is very painful. That's why it's a favorite torture spot.

    Default GM20

Hey Austin... any news on Stanwax adding the feature to eliminate the GM20 driver? I did buy a couple of GM20s.

...does anyone have a pic or a link to a GM20 being used as a shutter? I understand the concept but would like to see one in action.

Thanks for taking on the project Austin. I never thought the process of the project was so involved. We will enjoy these cases.

I have a picture or two of my shutter GM20 running off DZ's shutter driver in this thread.

    Default Another update

    Hello All!

I have another update. I have finished building the cases! See pics below.

I am satisfied with the outcome. I did not have anymore paint problems; It was just the side panel I had problems with too much paint building up, all other panels are great. The cases fits together pretty well, I left some slop in the design so there is a technique to getting the best fit. I think I will make a You-tube instructional video before I ship them out.

Now I have to work out the best box size and packing technique to make sure the cases arrive to you in good condition. I will post some pics when I think I have it figured out.

I am waiting on the glass from Edmunds Optics and the ILDA boards from Stanwax. There was a mix up at Edmunds optics with my CC info but it has been corrected so they should be shipping them to me soon.

Stanwax is currently working on a mod for the ILDA board that will allow it to work directly with a GM20 (no driver needed). I have to sent him a few GM20's to test and make sure its going to work right.

I have only found two mistakes so far.

1st) I forgot to add a D-sub 9 pin connector to the rear panel. That's the connector for a remote that the ILDA board can use. Its really only optional so I didn't go back and add it in.

2nd) The center bolt on the side panel collides the with hanging adjuster arm. It doesn't inhibit the adjustment too much so its not something I think will affect anyone too negatively. If its a problem for you, removing that bolt will be the easiest solution and shouldn't effect how the cases holds together.

I hope to have these things shipped in a couple weeks. It just depends on how fast I can get the rest of the parts and get it all packaged up.

    Sounds and looks good mate!

Will the Stanwax ILDA board GM20 mods be possible with existing boards? I already have one is all.
