What low life scum that visits these forums would report this? It's a worthy cause and it's Christmas!

I hope it wasn't someone here who was recently reported to ILDA.... Naw, he wouldn't would he?

if you need some testimony in this case, let me know i believe if more independent accounts send them acknowledgement that this is a fund raising action, they should let it go - it's for a good cause

Paypal? Actually checking something out before they drop the ban-hammer? Surely you must be joking! They don't have the time, and even if they did, they're total dickheads about this sort of thing.

The problem is that Badger is correct - a lottery of any kind is forbidden under the Paypal terms of service. That's why he warned people not to put "lottery" or "raffle" in the message field. Even if it's for a fund-raiser, lotteries are still forbidden. They don't have a sense of humor about this sort of thing.

If PayPal has been tipped off that this was a raffle, then we're probably screwed. It sucks, but then again so does PayPal.

For the record, I narrowly avoided this same problem a couple years ago right before SELEM. I had started a raffle, but we didn't have enough participants, so I ended up refunding the raffle money early. But not a month later I got a warning e-mail from PayPal reminding me that raffles were not permitted, and that if I hadn't refunded the money, they would have shut me down. Bastards...

The PayPal terms of service agreement does have a section that states if you have prior approval, then it's OK to do raffles, but good luck getting them to approve it.

That sucks big time... how could PayPal find a link to PL
if someone did not hand it to them...
Smells like someone that hangs out on PL and has had
troubles of his own with PayPal in the Past... and has now
    tried to get some revenge...

    PM sent...

reserves the right to limit an account for any violation of the User
Agreement, including the Acceptable Use Policy. Under the Acceptable Use
Policy, PayPal may not be used to send or receive payments for activities
that involve gambling and/or gaming activities, including but not limited
to casino games, sports betting, horse or greyhound racing, lottery
tickets, certain games of skill, and other ventures that facilitate
    gambling.
