Default Safety glasses - What to buy?

I'm slowly collecting parts for my 1W projector.

    I'll use 150-200mW 532nm, 2x250mW 658nm and 300-350mW 445nm...

I need some safety glasses for aligning the optics, and have done some research.

    http://www.lasermet.com/resources/en...etyeyewear.php

Seems I should go for OD2 or OD3, but where can I get them without being robbed?

The closest thing I can find is these:

Red and green protection is spot on, but no 445

Never buy safety glasses that don't have the reflectance/transmission graph available. Personally I think it's worth spending enough that you are sure you are getting the real thing. My glasses took two direct hits while I was building my projector so I don't regret the money I spent on glasses. I ordered mine for http://oemlasersystems.com.

    Good luck!

    with the RGB goggles
    direct beam 351 mW 445nm
    with glasses 96 mW 445nm

i also have 405nm goggles these also work for 445nm
    direct beam 351 mW 445nm
    with goggles 0,79 mW 445nm

but these do not protect the other wavelenghts

Seems a no-go for 445 then - how much red and green gets through? Enough to see what you are doing when aligning?

If I run the 445 near treshold current (10mW) while aligning they should be okay though

I don't plan to get a direct hit, but accidents do happen, and I only have two eyes...

Also remember that (as long as they are analog) your lasers don't need to be on 100% intensity for things like aligning. I often use two AA batteries in a holder & a trimpot to modulate at about 2vdc for alignment *Camel Light smoke optional, not healthy but helpful
Edit- I think that's what you were getting at ^^^ that's cool.
    just waking up, yawn...

Yes I know I can align at low power - and my plan is to align at 5-10mW per color... Won't need googles for that.

But after that I have to run them at full power to compensate for thermal drift - a pair of googles certaintly won't hurt then

Maybe it won't be necessary - just recieved 5 TECs in the mail today, so temperatures (and therefore alignment) should not change at full power - time will tell when I get the thing assembled.
