New build - 2.5W G/B Projector

No pics at this moment, but soon.....

Finally got light out of the 445 module (1.5W at the moment), still some fiddling with alignment to be done in the farfield I think, but that can happen once its all together.

Also got all of the holes (bar 2) drilled and tapped, and all the PSU's in place. In the process of running the wiring where it needs to go, and then finally I can mount everything, glue mirrors to mounts in the right places and sort the alignment out. I'm looking forward to that bit as I'm hoping it'll be a cinch as a result of using the extra mirror mounts in front of each module. It will mean I can get it 'bang on', rather than 'that'll have to do' when trying to use riser blocks, and I can maintain a good thermal connection to the baseplate.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that when you think 'I wonder what it looks like in the dark', when you're using high powered lasers, its not actually very dark anymore!? The specular light from the termination reflection is like having a light on, and actually this scares me far more than direct beam contact, as its harder to tell when its doing any damage....

after endless hours of mental exercises, i come to the same conclusion. riser blocks are absolutely out of the question for me. if you can't get 10000% of the machining perfect, it is better to use another set of mirror mounts and align everything nice and easy. maybe even toss a couple of optical rails in there somewhere to move the mounts back and forth

Ok, well finally its all just about together, everything aligned and all cabling in place. Blue may need some final adjustments (you can see the 2 beams at the aperture, but these soon resolve themselves as they diverge on the fast axis) I need some decent throw to do that sort of alignment so maybe a cunning array of mirrors is in order at some point...
