    That's ok
I expect it to be around the end of Spring.
Would be really nice to have more females on a LEM.
but for some reason it never happens.
It's kind of odd considering on a LEM there aren't things happening that should be considered inappropriate for women

    I own 3ds max 2010/illustrate! plugin/ILDA SOS/Quickshow 2

What i want to do is take a simple 3d object (for instance a vase/book) and covert this object so that i can use it in Pangolin Quickshow as a true 3D object, so i can spin it around/zoom in...etc.

Can anybody point me to a tutorial? or something. I tried to search the forum, but all i can find is a tut about converting them to a static ILDA frame, and i need a true 3D object.

    Thanks in advance
To find the correct tutorial for what you want to do:
    search for:

    Lathe modifier 3ds max glass

Let me tell you briefly how you do it.
You draw a glas *only 1 line* shape with the line tool in 3ds max.
1 line thick and only a half part of the glass.
use the lathe modifier and your done.
It's hard to explain briefly but it all comes down to this.

IMHO... Honestly. I tried to use real 3d objects for laser animation. Very simple objects work ok (Saturn with rings) but anything more complex (spaceship) is just a visual mess. You need that back lines masking (Forgot the proper term for that) I did a program for Lasergraph. It uses a scripting language similar to Basic. With all IF FOR ELSE. I was able to do a masking. But it's a pain in the ass. And very pointless. Big stress for galvos and a CPU. If you want to see how it will look...simply turn wireframe and show backlines in 3ds and see. You will find it is a visual mess.

Thats basically how it will look. 1970s 3d.
I hired an Italian guy to do my wires. Now they look like spaghetti!

    WIreframe?!?!?!
    No don't do wireframe.
you need my hidden line settings assigned to the objects.

If your not able to figure it out.
Please tell me at what part your lost.
PM me or just say it here, I'll be glad to assist you.

    I'll tell you what:
Since it's 23:01 here now, I won't really be able to make it now.
But tomorrow I will free up some time and post a topic here that will explain how to configure illustrate properly.
I will do this in a full image guided tutorial and it will be: brief, simple and short.
After you know how to do it, it won't take you much effort anymore.

Please do leave a nice comment when I post this tomorrow

    Cheers,

I will be happy to have you help. I just don't understand how it works. So you import 3D ILD file to laser controller and when you spin the object back lines will automatically disappear. No need for fancy programming? You spin one object against other and it will automatically disappear behind it. I don't get it. Like I said I can do that on Lasergraph with masks and some programming but it takes time. If you have a magic solution it would be super news to me and other people.

If you're talking about Illustrate! It only produces 2d. Is this topic about real 3d object to laser controller?!?! I'm confused
