Detroit DOES have a lot of great sounds, but I'm not sure it makes up for it's shortcomings, the most notable being crime & bankruptcy.

Yeah it doesn't sound like any picnic. Tough environments seem to push people to make and appreciate great sounds.
Couple of people I know from Melbourne went to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival this year and loved it. Got treated real well by people there.

I will say that DEMF, Movement, Tech Fest, or whatever you want to call it- is a great event in Detroit. It has come a long way since it's inception, and has stayed true to it's roots. If there was a Movement festival every month, Detroit would be a great place!
