Not a problem, Paul - but again - why could you simply not email / call me and lemme know this was becoming a real-bother to you, vs taking this to the mat, here? That's NOT 'blaming' you, Sir, it's communication - goes two ways. If I fail to communicate to you - (which I admit, I did...) but you also fail to communicate to me - we've *both* failed.

I mean, you didn't even hook them up for 3 months, (according to your email) I guess I didn't get any sense (with no other comms from you) of there being a growing issue, after I got you the surrogate... My bad, and I'm sorry.

AGAIN - Officially: I'm very sorry I dropped the ball on you - Totally my fault for not realizing the delay was causing a problem - Here are the Options I can offer you:

1. I refund your money - and you can KEEP the 'surrogate' for the troubles - makes a great 'emergency back-up', anyway...

2. I send you all the parts and circuit diagram, and $350. and you can build it...

(...these two are ONLY IF you need something sooner than I can deliver or if you simply don't want the unit anymore...)

3. - sorry, Option 3 is cancelled, I feel too much like * from yesterday to go in tonite...(...passed a gallstone or ??? dunno...

4. I finish and deliver the week-of 4/11, pending any 'disasters' (ie: I'm dead, etc) and again, to be clear, unit cannot SHIP ON 4/11...

value of being there for someone

so, I figured I could get my guy to
go to the shop and under my instruction
remove the device-

well, he got there, and for various
reason wasn't comfortable doing so-

so instead of letting you down in
a near impossible situation, I drove back
in the middle of the night and did
it myself-

no song, no dance , no violin, I did
it because you really really needed
it-

that's all , I did it to help Jon

If I had not been following along
on lexicon, I probably would still

but, you spend alot of time here
wheeling and dealing etc , and
basically when it was pointed out

FAA filings sent; progressing on pre-shows workload... I may be able to make some time tomorrow to get the box milled-out before I leave for NY... might be able to populate / wire, there, and get it out, earlier... will try, but can-make no promises before the week of 4/11, as-am already packed to the gills w/ gear on flight-segs...

Jon, it does seem that Paul has a point. If he bailed you out of a sticky situation last fall, it does seem odd that you'd leave him hanging well into the spring of the next year with no communication on the matter. I think if someone did me a favor like that, I'd get the unit back to them pronto, or at least explain why there is a delay. (Note that the mini-rig you sent in the interim isn't the same as the full controller.)

Yes, I know you have been busy (haven't we all?), but when you are indebted to someone, you make good on that debt as soon as possible. After all, isn't that the whole point of your post about the guy that welshed out on his $500 responsibility for the SoCaLEM funding? What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and all that.

Paul, while I agree with your point, this was probably the worst way to make it. I think I would have called Jon a few more times, or even sent a PM, before escalating to a public forum post. Yes, calling someone out in public tends to make things happen, but it should be a choice of last resort. (Just because you were justifiably angry doesn't mean you have to get ugly.)

I do believe in this case Jon re-organized his priorities, and unfortunately that put you at the bottom of the list. No, I don't think this was right. But perhaps a more gentle reminder would have worked just as well. (A simple: "Dude, it's been 5 months with no contact, and I really *need* that controller back now" sent via text message, PM, or phone call would probably have been best.)
