    Randy;

    Remember that the plan is to keep the main curtain at the proscenium closed. So there's no way to put a projector behind it at the mid-stage traveler, because the main curtain would block the light. (Remember too that with all the gear we'll have, there will be tables full of computers pretty much everywhere behind the proscenium, leaving no room for projectors anyway.)

    MasterPJ;

    The scrim usually hangs a foot or two above the floor, at least with the stands I have. If we can fit the scrim on the very edge of the stage apron, it can be a little higher. My stands go up to 12 ft, and the scrim is 9 ft tall, so that's a maximum of 3 feet. Of course we can go lower if we want.

    If we have to move the scrim out into the first few rows of the audience (in order to position it far enough away from the projectors on stage), then the bottom of the scrim will need to be at least as high as the level of the seat backs. (Which is about 3 feet.)

    The main issue with the scrim is making sure it's far enough away from the projector on the stage so that the image is large enough. Realistically I don't think you'll get more than about 9 to 10 feet of throw with the scrim on the stage apron, and that's probably not enough. So the scrim will almost certainly need to be positioned out in the audience somewhere. (Probably around the second or third row of seats.)

    with good scanners this shouldn't be a problem.
    a bit flickery when running at 30k but for most of the part it's ok.
    So depending on what scanners there are available, this would be pretty ok in terms of size.

    Glad this is being discussed now -
    Saves a lot of potential work over the next several months!

    With the current plan, where do you plan to setup the projector(s) that are intended for the scrim?

    Randy;

    For shows that need to be projected through the scrim, I planned to place the projectors in the middle of the stage at about the 3 ft level. That way they can be aimed slightly up to send the image through the scrim. Assuming we have the same scaffold layout as last time, this shouldn't be a problem.

    Where things get tricky is if we try to move the scaffold out farther to the left and right. Then we may have to separate it into sections, which would make the middle part a bit more difficult to set up. (We can still have a truss above all this, so long as there is a hole in the middle to see the screen behind the scaffold for front-projected graphics shows out of the balcony.)

    Hi Guys!

    I am going to try my damnedest to get there. Just making sure I can afford to do it, and that I can drive! Don't know if I'll have a projector this year... May have many odds and ends though... Sounds like networking is covered, so I can leave my switches at home this year? If you need help with something, let me know; I'll do my best.

    Newlin! Dude, where the hell have you been hiding? Haven't hear from you in ages man... Hope things have been going well for you.

    Frank (Flecom) is handling the networking this year, so shoot him a PM and see if you've got any gear that he might be able to use. I seem to remember that you had some pretty sizable ethernet switches last time; those might come in handy. But I'll defer to Frank on that.

    No problem about not having a projector ready by then. There will still be plenty of fun to be had! (And we'll probably have at least a dozen, and probably more like two dozen, projectors on hand anyway.) Just come on out and have some fun. (And bring whatever bits you want to show; it's all good!)

    Hi Newlin - not sure if I am going at this point but if I do maybe we can be share the ride. I live in Raleigh so you could drive here and then I drive the rest. That would roughly split the drive for you.

    Thanks John,

    What I really meant by that is: "still have the legal ability to drive", but we'll see what happens.

    If I were able to fly out for a couple days, what could I help out with?

    I would like to be available to contribute with anything I can if I show up.

    I don't have many lasers, but I also don't want to just show up after the $50, and sit back for a free lunch.
