    ^^^I like that!!

Why is it that humans think we are the "chosen ones?" that in the billions of light years of space out there we are the only forms of intelligent (or hell even non-intelligent) life forms?

Just becasue we can't see something, feel something, mathematically figure something out, or observe soemthing...doesnt mean that it doesnt exist!

Why do we always think that whatever forms of life that may be out there has to follow *our* views of of what pracical and possible may be?

we base 95% of what we know on physics and math. well, lets remember something...physics and math agree and make sense because humans make these formulas apply to what we see and know. we take 2 apples and apply 2 more apples we get 4 apples. simple enough. it makes sense. we can observe it. einstein says you cant *ACCELERATE* to travel faster than light. ok, fair enough. we look at the equation, plug the numbers in and it makes sense. the equation proves itself based on OUR sense of math and the way things around us interact with each other.

well, in some other galaxy, in some other dimension, inertia may be some sort of a force that some guy or gal has a switch to turn on and off. we dont know. of course that sounds assinine here. but whose to say a million light years away that doesnt exist? we cant say. we see things from our telescopes and math seems to agree all over the place. and for the most part, it does. but lets remember something, almost ALL of our "discoveries" are discoveries that were thought to have been "silly" and ridiculous before they were discovered. Hell, even just a few years ago we said "life CAN NOT exist deep in the oceans near volcanic vents." it was impossible. life can not survive in such harsh environments.Well....guess what? it exists there. AND it thrives there!

Math is a funny thing. it agrees and "proves" things becasue we make it that way. Perhaps there is some sort of "math" that has yet to be discovered that "proves" or allows for a very simple set of scenarios to allow *ACCELERATION* to light speed and beyond.

I hear alot of people say, "why would aliens want to come visit us?" LOL- thats a silly argument i think. Don't we spend $10,000,000 to make documentaries on ant hills? don't we spend thousands of hours exploring the possibility if monkeys can learn sign language? Don't we go into our oceans and stare at pretty lil fish? we "explore." we are inquisitive. we want to learn. Its a trait programmed into probably every living thing anywhere and everywhere.

Does the OP video "prove" alien life forms are visitng us? nope. but it *does* show some pretty strange and unexplained stuff that isnt swamp gas or military aircraft and it is EXTREMELY obvious that worlwide over the years there have been thousands of observations that can not be explained by anything humans could grasp.

im not a conspiracy theorist, but i think (and to be honest i kinda agree) that *if* this or any other governemnt had proof of life not of this planet, they would keep it HIGHLY secretive for our own protection. i dont think protection from the "other life" but from protection from ourselves.

proof of life outside this planet i think would be DETRIMENTAL to our way of life. These thousands of years of religion and wars over religion would be all for not. i dont think people would ever be able to handle proof of the existence of life not of planet earth! we are WAY too selfish and ignorant of a species!!

    just some of my thoughts!

Seeing as you mentioned religion Marc what would happen if someone not only managed to prove the existence of 'god', but also proved that the divine being was actually 'just' our god, nothing to do with the rest of everything else..... (coz everything else has got its own watchers right?)

Regardless, I like the pretty lights in the video....

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

I have slightly different feelings about math. To me, math is what is used to explain our universe in terms we humans can understand. Pure math is a way for us to be certain of an outcome or make predictions so that we can flourish and exploit our environment. It's not a magical force that creates discoveries from nothing, the suggestion that before a discovery what was discovered did not exist. I guess that it could be thought of as a "if a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it..." type of thing, but I think it's more of a tool to ensure our accurate understanding of what's around us. A way to test our suspicions and ideas for accuracy.

In your statement above, if one day we did discover formulae that "allow" for faster-than-light travel, that possibility will have always been there. We just can't accurately grasp how to exploit it until we develop a mathematical explanation for it.

    What if?

What if aliens have their eye on Earth as a new home? Maybe Earth is too cool with insufficient CO2 in the atmosphere? What if they need the Earth to be much warmer to survive here?

    Read between the lines.

What if some other aliens dropped in and made sure we figured out lasers, just in time.

I just see the Earth as a very exotic and complex fairground ride, travelling VERY quickly..... buckle up folks, and keep your hands in the car!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that our sun is just ambling along at about walking speed round the centre of our galaxy, so I guess that's why you are using the fairground analogy.
We are just buzzing round the sun like a demented mosquito!

    Cheers
