I'll get in touch with Lenny's Subs and see what they would charge to deliver a large party sub or two. I'm sure we could all chip in for something like that.

I agree with Newlin though; it's very easy to get caught up in the fun and forget to eat! That's why I'd like to have breaks in the presentation schedule. Sure, many of us will still want to stay at the auditorium to tinker with stuff, but at least we'll know that it's time to eat... (And there are several options for food delivery if folks don't want to leave.)

I'm going to miss that pulled pork, but others might not miss me hogging it all up.

I've run for food in the past and would be happy to do so again. Pizza is easy and I also like the idea of finding a place to buy large party-sized subs and some chips or sometihng.

I agree that we might benefit from just shooting from the hip on food this year, perhaps with a few tentatively planned food outlets scouted out beforehand.

I'm all for getting food where ever we find it but, after some consideration, there are a couple of things I can bring that are really simple and require little time in the kitchen. We're well known for our meatballs and really that just requires a large pot on the stove. Same thing with pulled pork bbq for that matter as long as there is an oven. Both are easily transported frozen and just heated. And both are inexpensive. I can get rolls from the Walmart near the hotel. I scoped it out last year and it's a super-walmart with the grocery store. Could be a lunch item for Friday and Saturday. Just a thought.

Boy, I'm sure gonna miss that sweet BBQ from Doug and Mystrys along with Len's baked potatoe salad. I must admit that is A LOT of work while trying to have fun with lasers.

I'm for catering if that's what everyone else wants to do but we'll have to bring "The good ol days" back again one year. Hey, anyone fancy barbecue catering to keep the spirit? I hnow there is a couple joints up the road from the Holiday Inn, maybe we could get one of them to cater? Sure beats pizza and subs in my opinion.

Part of the problem is that we don't yet know how many people will be coming. If we end up with a typical turnout of 30 people or so, that's one thing, but last year we had 72! That's a big difference. If this year's turnout is anything like last year, we're in trouble...

Although I really prefer the idea of every man for himself, maybe we can meet half-way on this. If someone is willing to organize the food for just one day, maybe we could self-cater the event on Friday and then let everyone go out on their own for Saturday and Sunday. I know that Len (Hakzaw1) has asked to be part of the food again, and I think Lenny (No-Esc) is interested in helping out too. We just need someone to take the lead on this.

Len's "cooler tater salad" was the bomb. That was a new one on us that went into the recipe file.

We're not quiting forever; just simply don't have the time this year.

I feel that with a few others (newbies )offering to do an hour each of KP. Brad and the two Lennys could pull off a spaghetti( the food not the software-lol) dinner- I can make and freeze the sauce- Brad can bring his famous meatballs and all the leaves is a huge tossed salad and the ez- garlic bread- not the kind of spread that requires constant work. My crockpots will hold the sauce and pasta. My large resturant pots can do enough pasta for a small army. if this is planned for Fri early afternoon the clean-up would surely all get done before we all must leave. Anything leftover could be put back out on Sat. This would save all a few $$ and keep from having to send out , at least on Friday.

But I will be happy to go along with the wishes of the majority.

I sure will miss that Pulled Pork-Doug and wife sure do it RIGHT! maybe next year.

lenny(hak) I was unable to add a new post to this tread so I was forced to start a new one that I will be using to organize the food for SELEM 2011- so please go there to leave suggstions and comments.

'Thoughts for FOOD' is the thread thanks---len
