You would think from the discussion in this thread that lasers are a poor mans hobby.

The rates did go up from last year (by about 5% or so), but we do still have a group discount. You have to tell them you are with the "SELEM laser group" though.
She was there last year and said she planned to visit the event but failed to make it. she said she & hubby will do it this year.
That would be Kathryn, their night auditor. And I think "hubby" is a bit premature; I'm pretty sure they're not married yet. But yeah, they plan to stop in to see what it's all about this year.

With regard to the hotel, if you have any problems, call and ask for Cassie. She's the general manager, and she knows all about what is going on. She'll make sure you get the right rate.

Sent you a PM, Gary. We'll hook you up!

See my first post in this thread. Just call them and give them your name, the dates that you'll be staying, and your credit card number, and they will reserve you a room.

The "Party Room" is actually the hotel conference room. It's a small room right next to the lobby, just to the side of the large sitting lounge by the fireplace. The conference room is only 4 meters wide by 9 meters long, so you can't get more than about 25 people in there. But we have full access to this room every night. So when we shut down the lasers in the auditorium, everyone drives to the hotel. The old guys (like me) go to sleep, but the young people go to the conference room to drink beer and talk about lasers some more. Usually someone has at least one laser projector set up in that room, and they connect some small speakers to their laptop computer so they have sound too. It works surprisingly well. People can also hang out in the lounge area right in front of the conference room. (There are a number of comfortable chairs and sofas to sit on out there.) Often times there will be people out in the lounge or in the conference room until 4 AM... They do this every night for the duration of SELEM! (Crazy bastards...)

Will you by any chance be bringing your laser cam with you? I haven't spent enough money on this silly hobby recently and, when getting LSX, I was reading about it on your website. Sounded interesting but I'd kinda like to see it in action and then be able to buy it on the spot.

No, I probably won't even take my laptop with me this time. I'm going just to hang out.
