That may not be a bad thing, especially since service was a bit lacking last year.

We were outgrowing the Artist Cafe. It would be cool of we could magically have a private event there though.

I might be able to roll in late Thursday night but probably not. I thought the Artist Cafe was kind of lame last year considering all of the hype. I think our crowd was way too big for the waitresses to handle.

Zambras on Thursday could be a better choice than Saturday with the fact that there is travel time involved and we'd miss less of the activities at the theater. Plus it could be easier getting an large group accommodated together on a Thursday. The only drawback for some people is it's not an inexpensive experience but, the food and atmosphere is P H E NOMINAL. Of course Asheville is frickin' loaded with great restaurants but again, it's an hours ride.

(Although.... since I'm staying for Monday now, I'm not opposed to Zambra's being Sunday night.)

^^^ what he said.plus a nicer place and a little more $$$ but we would get less time away from the shows and most spend some $$ at TAC anyway-- so IMO its a good trade off IMO. If some cant go with to Zam's on Thur. they could still go on Sat or Sun or not..

... We could all chip on something to be delivered OR... I also volunteer to take up a collection and run to walmart for build your own sub fixins' --has to be a better deal than subway or pizza-{ a big ripoff really}-besides we are doing Italian at the Friday buffet. For what we would pay for pizza delivered we can get stuff for subs plus sodas, chips
and dips.... I hear there will already be some salsa coming. I have a few and the mayo-mustard and pickles in my pantry.
All we need for friday is salad dressings...like ranch, 1000 isl.,etc-- I will bring all I need to make Italian dressing.

    what say ye???

head count in my mind is 50+ and growing.

Total head count for SELEM V right now is between 35 and 40, including guests. I expect we'll get a few stragglers in the next week or two, but don't count on a lot of extra people.

However, for the pre-SELEM dinner party, we're probably looking at around 25 people tops. Maybe less than that. (Not everyone comes into town early, and even among those that do, some of them just stay at the hotel.)

Last year we went into Hickory (about 6 miles away) and had dinner Sunday night at Texas Roadhouse. It was pretty good actually. So we can go back to that area if we want to for the pre-SELEM dinner party on Thursday night. There are plenty of chain restaurants to choose from in the area, and they are all very close. (And I do agree with Gary in that the service at The Artist's Cafe has dropped off a bit since the early days. So maybe it's a good thing that they lost their lease...)

Going to Zambras Thursday night would be doable, but expensive. Also, we'd lose 2 hours for travel time there and back, making it tricky to get everyone there on time. But if the group agrees that this is what they want to do, I can go for it.

As of today my head count for name tags is 51. That is not an official count though. I took an educated guess on people that would show up at the door to pay. Like Adam said Thursday I wouldn't expect any more than about 25 to 30 max. It would be fun to find a Mama Papa pizza joint that has a full bar to invade. I'm always up for a good pizza.

I was not too impressed with the Cafe' last year either.

    Edit:

I just found this place. Anyone know anything about it? They don't seem to have a web site. I can call and find out if they can accomidate us if everyone agrees.

If anyone is going to be having a few beers I recommend keeping it as local as possible. Even with designated drivers you're going to have to pull over for pit stops.
