We could ask the folks at the hotels for their suggestions, be it somewhere in Conover or Hickory?

Old Hickory Tap Room has a vote from me. The prices work since I have to feed a 19 year old and I'm usually always up for live music (of any kind) although I'm not sure how much of that group I can tolorate after checking out their myspace page. At least it will FEEL like being in North Carolina! Or a bit like Kintuckee at least.

I'm up for anything as long as they have more than beer. I'm not a beer drinker. Give my the hard stuff please.

I don't think we should wait untill were there to decide. It's always a good idea to give where ever we decide to go a heads up that were coming.

I agree it would be nice to pick a place in advance. That being said, I would *really* prefer that we choose a place without live music.

The whole point of the pre-SELEM party is for people to get together and TALK. You can't do that when a band is playing. This was one of the things that really bothered me with The Artist's Cafe in past years - they started doing live music on the nights we had the dinner party. It was so damn loud you couldn't hear anything esle.

So while I'm up for just about any food, be it pizza or steaks or anything in-between, let's try to find someplace without music, OK?

How about this restaurant (listed at Urbanspoon)?

    Bistro 127

Bistro 127 has a private room (holds up to 35 people), has a FULL BAR and is available for the 18th. We would have the room for the entire evening (until closing - 10:00 PM). If you go to the "catering" section, there is a picture of the private room.

They will provide separate checks, they also will need a deposit to hold the room, but this is refunded upon our arrival.

I called several other locations (Backstreet's and Da Vinci's) - either our group is too large, no reservations or their private room is not available for that night.

If this is ok, please respond - we need to lock this in soon.
